Hanoi Police Football Club kicked off the group stage of the 2025-2026 Southeast Asian Cup Champions League with an away match against Pathum United on August 20. The Vietnamese side scored first and had an advantage in the first half of the match. However, Pathum United won 2-1.

In the latest match at the C2 Asian Cup, Hanoi Police Football Club tied Beijing Guoan (China) 2-2. That was also the match in which Hanoi Police Football Club had twice surpassed their opponents but unfortunately had to draw.

Therefore, Hanoi Police Football Club will need to overcome the limitations in defense when welcoming Cebu (Philippines) at home in the Southeast Asia Cup C1. Especially in the goal when goalkeeper Nguyen Filip once again made a mistake.

Coach Polking shared: “There were a few situations where Nguyen Filip lost concentration, but that is also unavoidable and normal in football. After that match, I talked and gave advice to Nguyen Filip. I do not doubt his class. For me, Nguyen Filip is still the number 1 goalkeeper at the Hanoi Police Football Club, the current top player in the national team.”

Mr. Polking also admitted that in the past few matches, there were times when the Hanoi Police Football Club players lost concentration, leading to unfortunate losses. He himself worked to help his students increase their concentration throughout the match, making the most of the opportunities created.

At the press conference on September 23, coach Glenn Ramos said: “I have watched the Hanoi Police Football Club play, most recently against the host Beijing Guoan (China) in the C2 Asian Cup. They have consistent player quality and quality foreign players.

I am most impressed with Alan, this is a very dangerous striker. However, Cebu Club is ready to face the strongest team in V.League at the moment. We have prepared carefully and will aim for a victory at Hang Day Stadium. River Leddel player commented: "We have carefully studied the playing style with each player, especially the foreign players. The whole team has prepared carefully and will show that in the official match. Cebu respects the opponent, but is ready to unite and work together towards victory." As for Hanoi Police Football Club, they are at a disadvantage when they will be without 3 pillars: Quang Hai, Viet Anh and Adou Minh due to injury. In the match at the C2 Asian Cup, Quang Hai was also unable to participate.

Coach Polking said: “I am very grateful to the leadership of the Hanoi Police Football Club for preparing a deep squad for me. New players will be on the field and I believe they will perform well. After an unsatisfactory opening match, the whole team is determined to win all 3 points against Cebu. This is an important match for us, because only a victory can lead us to go deep in the tournament.

I am always excited about participating in international tournaments and want my team to participate regularly. Because there, we will meet big, highly skilled opponents, so the players can compete and gain experience. Everything that has happened will be useful for the players on the journey ahead."

The match between Hanoi Police Football Club and Cebu (Philippines) will take place at Hang Day Stadium at 7:30 p.m. on September 24.

Vietnam futsal team competes for the top spot

After the first two matches of the 2026 Asian Futsal Qualifiers, the Vietnamese futsal team won all 6 points with 2 wins. Coach Diego Giustozzi and his team defeated Hong Kong (China) 9-1 and China 7-2. This result helped Vietnam lead Group E with a very good goal difference of +13.

Meanwhile, Lebanon ranked second with 4 points. This team beat China 2-1 and drew Hong Kong (China) 1-1. The bottom two positions are Hong Kong (China) and China with 1 point and 0 points respectively.

The 2026 Asian Futsal Qualifiers have 31 teams, divided into 8 groups (7 groups with 4 teams and 1 group with 3 teams). According to the competition format, the 8 group winners and 7 best second-placed teams will qualify for the Asian Futsal Finals with host Indonesia. Since Group H only has 3 teams, the performance of the second-placed team and the bottom-placed team will not be taken into account when considering the second-placed teams with the best results. Therefore, the Vietnamese futsal team needs to maintain the top position in the group to secure a place in the next round.

In the final match on September 24, the Vietnam futsal team (6 points) will face Lebanon (4 points) to determine the top spot in the group and a direct ticket to the 2026 Asian Futsal Finals. Although only needing 1 more point is enough to maintain the leading position, this is expected to be a tense match, as Lebanon is always highly appreciated for its physical strength, solid playing style and more experience than the opponents in the same group of the Vietnam team. In case of losing to Lebanon, the Vietnam team will fall to second place in the group and have to wait for consideration with the other groups.
