Images of students bowing were sent to reporters by residents.

On the morning of January 30, the Departmentof Education and Training of Thanh Hoa City, Thanh Hoa Province, said that it had received information shared on social media recording the scene of students standing and bowing to teachers in cold weather below 15 degrees Celsius at Tran Mai Ninh Secondary School (Thanh Hoa City) and was asking the school to report the incident.

Previously, on the evening of January 29, many clips appeared on Facebook recording the scene of two students standing in front of the school gate in cold, rainy weather. Every time a car entered or exited, these two students bowed their heads to greet. The incident was later determined to be at Tran Mai Ninh Secondary School, Thanh Hoa City.

The above clips were said by those who shared them to be filmed on January 25 and January 27 when the temperature in Thanh Hoa was always between 10-11 degrees Celsius.

After the above clips were posted, there were hundreds of shares and mixed comments. Many people think that the above actions are normal to train and educate students. However, there are also many opinions that the school is a bit rigid and should not do it. Especially in cold weather below 15 degrees Celsius, and it is raining.

The school does not force students to do so.

Speaking with Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Lan, Principal of Tran Mai Ninh Secondary School, said that the school has two gates, the gate on Le Quy Don Street is for students to enter and exit, and the gate on Han Thuyen Street is for teachers.

According to Ms. Lan, the two students standing at the back gate were part of the school's red flag team, taking notes and reminding students who were using the back gate. "The school's traffic flow has been in place for a long time to ensure the safety of students, because teachers often drive cars in and out of the back gate, and sometimes the accelerator and clutch pedals are not stable, causing danger to students," Ms. Lan shared.

Regarding the information that students bow when cars enter and exit, according to Ms. Lan, the school does not require that. "When students see guests or teachers, they bow. When they greet them, the teachers also lower their windows and greet them back, not the cars.

This is an activity of the red flag team, the purpose is to record the activities of the two school gates to report to the homeroom teacher whether there are any violations by students. The school does not set this up, forcing students to do this or that" - teacher Lan added.

Meanwhile, a leader of the Thanh Hoa City Department of Education and Training said that it was not appropriate for schools to allow the red flag team to operate in such cold weather. The department also issued a document requesting that schools not allow students to have outdoor activities when the weather is below 15 degrees Celsius.

Tran Mai Ninh Secondary School is considered a special "specialized school" because students have to take an entrance exam. The quality of education here is considered the best among schools in Thanh Hoa City.
