However, her daughter has been worried these past few days because of the schools' change in admissions. Not being considered for admission based on academic records, her daughter has returned to studying to "compete" with the high school graduation exam subjects.
“This year, the school my child plans to choose only considers the academic records of students from specialized schools, not from regular schools, so my child missed out on the opportunity. An IELTS certificate of 8.0 is only worth 9.5 points when converted. If the benchmark score is the same as last year, the upcoming graduation exam score must average 9.6 points/subject to have a chance to get in. Thus, the competition for a place in university based on graduation exam scores will be very fierce,” said Ms. Huong.
Instead of considering admission based on a combination of high school transcripts and international certificates, now her child and many friends in this situation have to study extra hard for graduation exams because they were previously subjective, thinking that having an IELTS certificate would mean they would be admitted directly.
Similarly, many candidates in the situation of "the rich also cry" when holding in hand a high thinking assessment score from Hanoi University of Science and Technology and first and second prizes in the city are still worried about failing the university entrance exam this year.

“With the above scores, students can completely pass many wishes at top technology and engineering schools. But if you want to study Economics or Languages in hot majors, you must do really well in the high school graduation exam,” this expert shared.
On the other hand, according to experts, if the achievement is winning the first prize in the province, high academic score, IELTS 8.0, students can confidently take the graduation exam.
This year, the graduation exam is predicted to be difficult, so the standard score will be much lower than previous years. Students should stabilize their mentality to study well for the high school graduation exam.

Prof. Dr. Tran Thanh Nam - Vice Principal of the University of Education said that in the 2025 university entrance exam, the Ministry of Education and Training requires schools to convert scores so that the review scores and admission scores must be converted to a common, unified scale for each training program, major, and group of majors.
According to Mr. Nam, converting the benchmark scores to a common scale will ensure fairness in university admissions in 2025.
Instead of panicking, Mr. Nam said that most importantly, during this period, students need to make a plan, systematize their knowledge, and review it intelligently.
“Everyone is worried before the exam, but it only makes your results lower. You should identify your difficulties as the common difficulties of all students in this class. For those who cannot change, the only way is based on the graduation exam score, then your main task is to prioritize the knowledge modules for the graduation exam,” Mr. Nam emphasized.
