Born into an intellectual family in Ninh Binh province with many difficulties, although she passed many universities, teacher Doan Thi Phuong Nga chose Hanoi Pedagogical University because of her love for literature and the noble teaching profession. After graduating, the young teacher was hired to teach in Sam Son, Thanh Hoa province.

With her teaching ability and passion for teaching, teacher Nga was trusted by the leaders to be responsible for both teaching and taking charge of the school's Literature subject, and is a core Literature teacher of Sam Son city. Especially from 2013 to present, she has always been responsible for training excellent students at the provincial level in Literature subject for grade 9 for theeducation sector of Sam Son city.

Meeting teacher Doan Thi Phuong Nga at the end of class, reporters from the Journalist and Public Opinion Newspaper heard her confide that the most important thing in teaching Literature is to inspire and attract students with practical lessons from real life, thereby creating excitement for them in each class.

For many students, Literature is a subject that is heavy on theory, lengthy and difficult to learn. Therefore, some students are afraid of studying Literature, study in an opposing way or just memorize model essays in a clichéd way without clearly understanding what the essay is trying to say.

However, in the classes of teacher Doan Thi Phuong Nga, it seems that learning literature is no longer as “scary” or “boring” as we think. Sharing about the method to help students love literature, Ms. Nga said that literature is people, teaching literature is teaching people, so her method is to make students see this as the closest and easiest subject to understand, giving them positive thoughts and building a love for literature.

"Although I am very busy with work and class time takes up almost all my time, I still set aside some time to watch the news and social networks to see what the political , economic, social, etc. situation is like at home and abroad that day so that when I teach the next class, I can apply it to my lessons. Using real-life stories will help students grasp, gain a deeper insight, and especially reduce stress in lessons that only have content in the book," Ms. Nga shared.

She always encourages students to express their personal opinions about literary works so that they understand the values ​​that literature brings.

With more than 30 years on the podium, each of her lesson plans is not only a matter of imparting knowledge, but also a passion for literature for each generation of her students. She is always diligent in researching and exploring, friendly with teachers and students, evoking emotions, and guiding the right attitude towards life. Ms. Nga creates inspiration for students here to study Literature in school, connecting the collective of Literature teachers in the midst of a noisy industrial life.

Sharing more about the profession of "sowing letters", Ms. Doan Thi Phuong Nga said that the most important thing in teaching Literature is enthusiasm and responsibility. To inspire students to love the subject, a Literature teacher must have enough "fire" to "burn" the passion and desire of the students, must touch their hearts because literature is the voice of the soul, of emotions, not just a subject.

With each literary work, whether it is poetry or story, during the lecture, Ms. Nga always connects it to real life, skillfully conveying messages, love, lessons on being human, and positive thoughts to students, guiding her students to know how to live properly and beautifully through her works.

At the same time, she combines the use of information technology, presenting videos, stories, and beautiful images in life. Thanks to that, each Literature class taught by Ms. Nga becomes attractive, exciting, creating an exciting atmosphere, which is awaited by students. Thanks to the application of new teaching methods, the quality and learning results of students are improving every day.

Not only inspiring students to study literature, Ms. Nga always encourages them to read books regularly. In the current era of technological development, reading books is no longer a need or a passion for young people. The abundance and abundance of countless information channels on the Internet and on television have made students no longer patient enough to search for good books.

And to help students be interested in reading, Ms. Nga often introduces famous books, rich in humanity, telling a few good passages in those works to arouse their curiosity and search. With dedication and responsibility for her profession, teacher Doan Thi Phuong Nga has strived to impart knowledge to generations of students, helping them achieve many high achievements in their studies. For many years, Ms. Doan Thi Phuong Nga has led the team of excellent students in literature to achieve high awards.

Under the guidance and knowledge imparted by Ms. Nga, from the school year 1993 to 2023, she taught and trained 119 excellent students at the provincial level and 266 excellent students at the town and city level.

In particular, from the 2013-2014 school year to the 2022-2023 school year at Nguyen Hong Le Secondary School (Sam Son City), she had 91 students win the city-level excellent student award in Literature for grade 9; 34 students win the city-level excellent student award in Literature for grade 6; 57 students win the provincial excellent student award. In the 2021-2022 school year alone, the grade 9 Literature team ranked first in the province. She and her professional team also taught the grade 9 Literature team to rank first in Thanh Hoa province.

With her contributions in teaching and spreading the love of Literature to students, in 31 years of work, Ms. Nga has received the Medal for the Cause of Education, 1 Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training, 4 Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, 1 Certificate of Merit from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and 30 Certificates of Merit at all levels; many consecutive years of achieving the title of excellent teacher at the town and city level, twice achieving the title of excellent teacher at the provincial level.

Ms. Doan Thi Phuong Nga has received many Certificates of Merit in more than 30 years of working in education.

In 2023, teacher Doan Thi Phuong Nga was one of 75 people to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, period 2021 - 2023.
