After more than two decades of absence from the Vietnamese market, Russian car brand Lada officially returned to the Vietnamese market in 2025 with the first batch of cars arriving at the port, including four models spread across both the sedan and SUV segments.
This is an event that many classic car lovers and nostalgic people consider noteworthy, because Lada was a familiar name to Vietnamese people in the 1980s-1990s, especially through models such as Lada 2107 or Lada Niva. In this comeback, Lada brings the Granta, Vesta, Niva Legend and Niva Travel models.

The expected price of this batch of cars is from about 360 million VND for the sedan model and from 390 million VND for the SUV model. This is considered a very attractive price when it is only equivalent to the A-class car group.
In particular, Lada Granta is a low-cost B-class sedan competing with Mitsubishi Attrage. Lada Granta has a 1.6L engine, manual or automatic transmission, targeting ordinary users with basic travel needs and low cost.
Lada Vesta is still a B-class sedan but more upscale, with a modern design and more convenient equipment, competing with names like Toyota Vios or Hyundai Accent.

In the SUV segment, Lada Niva Legend retains its classic appearance with a 2-door, 4-wheel drive design, suitable for off-road lovers and "retro" style cars, while Niva Travel is a more modern version with 5 doors, more spacious, but still maintains the characteristic part-time 4-wheel drive system.
Immediately after the images of the batch of Lada cars arriving at the Vietnamese port were posted, they attracted the attention of the community. On many social networking forums, forums for car lovers and the press, many opinions expressed excitement about the appearance of these new car models.
Many people believe that Russian cars are already famous for their durability, and if they are fuel-efficient or cheap, it will not be difficult to enter the Vietnamese market.

Lada’s return to the Vietnamese market has the advantage of being a brand that has long been known to consumers. With a history of presence in Vietnam since the 90s, Lada is a well-known name. This brand can focus on low-cost, eye-catching cars originating from Russia to differentiate itself from the group of Chinese cars sold in Vietnam.
However, some people are concerned because the design of these cars is not eye-catching, the equipment is simple, there is a lack of advanced safety and driver assistance technology, and there is no official distribution system, making warranty and maintenance difficult in the early stages.
Besides, Lada will have to face many big challenges when the Vietnamese auto market is experiencing strong competition between Japanese, Korean and Chinese brands.

The Lada Granta and Lada Vesta models have to compete directly with names that have firmly established themselves in the sedan segment such as Hyundai Accent, Toyota Vios or Mitsubishi Attrage. Meanwhile, Lada Niva and Niva Travel will have to compete with Japanese and Chinese models in the small SUV segment, with many models having eye-catching designs and modern technology.
However, if priced reasonably, with good quality, focusing on strengths such as sturdy chassis and good performance on complex terrain, Lada cars can completely conquer Vietnamese consumers.
The appeal of the legendary Russian car brand is adding a new color to the popular car segment. Many people hope to be able to own these cars soon.
