Archaeologists have found many traces of gold mining by the ancient Champa people. The gold mines in the Central region, formerly owned by the Champa kingdom, once provided a large amount of gold for their dynasties. Quang Nam was once the capital and holy land of the Champa people with famous relics such as Tra Kieu, My Son, Dong Duong, etc. This place once had large gold reserves with gold mines such as Bong Mieu and alluvial gold scattered everywhere. The Champa people had mined gold for a long time before the Vietnamese arrived.
