The North-South railway passing through Bien Hoa city, Dong Nai has about 19 points with potential traffic safety risks.
Bien Hoa City People's Committee (Dong Nai) has just sent a document to Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee to review and summarize the existing problems and shortcomings in traffic infrastructure at intersections between railways and roads.
Many intersections between railways and roads through Dong Nai still pose potential traffic safety risks.
The North-South railway passing through Bien Hoa city has a total length of about 19km. Of which, there are 12 legal level crossings with the railway, 7 self-opened crossings with the railway. All of the above points have guard posts and watchmen arranged by the People's Committee of the ward (where the self-opened crossing is located).
Besides, there is also a newly opened path that has recently appeared at Km 1698+620 in Thong Nhat ward. This is the only path for 5 households to enter and exit their houses.
In addition, there are some roads located along and close to the railway and without fences, which is also a potential risk for railway traffic accidents.
Therefore, to ensure railway traffic safety, Bien Hoa City People's Committee proposed that Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee consider proposing that the Vietnam Railway Authority ( Ministry of Transport ) allow the existence of the above 7 self-opened crossings until after 2025 when legal level crossing projects and railway overpasses are invested in and built.
At the same time, Bien Hoa City People's Committee requested Saigon Railway Joint Stock Company to pay attention and fully arrange equipment, bells, telephones, flashing lights, barriers, etc. to enhance the sense of responsibility of the guards at the above self-opened crossings.
Bien Hoa City People's Committee requested railway transport management and business units to review and build fences along railways within the railway safety corridor, separating roads and railways to ensure safety.
