Regarding the case of counterfeit food production that occurred at Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company and Asia Life Joint Stock Company, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency arrested Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien (27 years old, in Ho Chi Minh City) for deceiving customers.
Thuy Tien and the shareholders of Chi Em Rot company cooperate to produce Kera candy. The beauty queen receives profits according to the capital contribution agreement equivalent to 30%, while the remaining shareholders contribute 70%.
Before being caught up in the law, Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien was considered an ideal role model for the younger generation. She was crowned Miss Grand International in December 2021 in Thailand. After winning the crown, Thuy Tien's career and life turned a new page, being sought after by many brands, becoming a familiar advertising face on social networks and television.
Thuy Tien was a student of the French Language and Literature Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University). Specifically, in 2016, Tien applied for and was admitted to the French Language Department of the university with a score of 21.46.

During her time studying here, Thuy Tien registered to study and pass some subjects but was absent from the exams so many subjects were not completed. In 2018, she completed the procedures to reserve her studies at the school but did not return to study.
Thuy Tien then applied for the International Hotel and Restaurant Management program (Vatel) at Hoa Sen University in 2019. This is a joint training program between Hoa Sen University and Vatel School of Tourism and Hotel Business (France). The program is taught in 3 years in Ho Chi Minh City in English.
On April 13, 2022, the official Facebook page of the Faculty of Hotel and Restaurant Tourism, Hoa Sen University posted an article with the content that Miss Thuy Tien completed her graduation thesis of the Vatel international program.
In mid-2022, on her official personal page, Miss Thuy Tien shared: "Tien has officially received a scholarship for a master's degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management (Executive Master of Hospitality Management) from the Swiss University of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHMS University Center). This is the largest hotel management training school in Switzerland. Tien is very honored and happy to receive a confirmation letter from the school and is especially looking forward to the upcoming study program!".
Earlier this year, the beauty queen showed off a photo of herself receiving her master's degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the Swiss University of Tourism and Hotel Management. Thuy Tien said she will complete her master's program in June 2024. The programs are taught in English and the study process lasts 2 years.
However, many people question the master's degree that the beauty queen currently possesses. The controversy related to Thuy Tien's education has divided the public into two opinions, some question the authenticity, others give conflicting comments.

There are posts on social media claiming that Thuy Tien "lied" about where her degree was awarded. Some opinions say that SHMS is not a university in the true sense of the word, but only a specialized training school, and cannot be called a "university" according to the common education system.
Netizens argued that the use of the word "university" could be misleading, making the public think that SHMS is a university, when in fact, SHMS's name does not include this word. Some other opinions also said that SHMS grants degrees through online training, questioning Thuy Tien's learning process.
Besides the doubts, there are also people who believe that Thuy Tien's study at SHMS is completely legal, internationally recognized and cannot be taken lightly. In the face of controversy, Thuy Tien chose to remain silent on this issue.
