In response to the prolonged heavy rains caused by storm No. 12, which caused the risk of landslides in mountainous areas, on the morning of October 20, the Tra Linh Commune Police, Da Nang City, proactively deployed response plans, launched a search of areas at risk of landslides and flash floods to support people, ensure safety of life, and minimize property damage.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Phong, Head of Tra Linh Commune Police, said that through the work of grasping the situation and monitoring the area, at 7:00 p.m. the same day, the commune police force determined that at Kon Pin peak, village 2, there was a risk of landslides affecting 8 households with 34 people.

A crack about 50 meters long appeared on the mountainside, a few dozen meters from the residential area.

The crack shows signs of spreading, posing a risk of landslides, threatening the safety of people living below.

Immediately afterwards, the Commune Police reported to the Chairman of the Commune People's Committee and the Head of the Civil Defense Command of Tra Linh Commune to direct forces to deploy a plan to prevent natural disasters in the locality.

The commune police mobilized 7 officers and soldiers, 8 people from the grassroots security force, 2 vehicles, coordinated with the Commune Military Command, the government and local people to evacuate dozens of people, property and household items to a safe place according to the plan.

That very night, under heavy rain, police and military officers used cars to take people and their belongings to a safe shelter, the Community Cultural House of Village 2.

Lieutenant Colonel Phong said that currently, Tra Linh Commune Police continue to maintain a 24/7 standing force, closely monitoring weather developments and firmly grasping the local situation.

Timely advise the Party Committee and government and coordinate with relevant forces to effectively handle arising situations, contributing to ensuring the safety of people's lives and property.
