Da Nang city police are making efforts to help people prepare for and respond to Typhoon No. 12.

DNO - On the evening of October 21st, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Minh Nguyen, Deputy Director of the Da Nang City Police, along with other professional units, directly inspected the storm prevention and control work for Typhoon No. 12 at Tho Quang fishing port (Son Tra ward) and the areas of Hoa Cuong and Cam Le wards.

At Tho Quang fishing harbor and dock, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Minh Nguyen instructed the Son Tra Ward Police, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, and the Traffic Police Department to closely coordinate with the City Border Guard and the Tho Quang Fishing Harbor and Dock Management Board to guide fishermen in mooring their boats according to regulations; and to resolutely prevent people from staying or going out to sea when the storm hits.

At the same time, forces will be deployed to be on duty 24/7, proactively responding to all situations and ensuring absolute safety of people and property.

Inspecting storm prevention and control efforts related to typhoon No. 12 in Hoa Cuong and Cam Le wards, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Minh Nguyen requested that the ward police coordinate with local authorities to review areas at risk of flooding, and to disseminate information and guide people to evacuate from dangerous areas.

Ensure adequate rescue and relief equipment and resources are prepared, and maintain traffic safety and urban order during storms.

Prior to Typhoon No. 12 making landfall, on October 21st and 22nd, police in communes and wards throughout the city actively assisted residents in reinforcing their houses and clearing drainage channels in the streets. They also formed emergency response teams and prepared vehicles and equipment to be ready to assist the people.

Accordingly, the An Khe Ward Police established a Youth Volunteer Team for disaster prevention and control, consisting of 24 members who are young, enthusiastic officers and soldiers with skills in rescue and relief work, a proactive spirit, and a readiness to accept and complete all assigned tasks.

The youth volunteer team deployed forces and resources in coordination with the ward's military agency, departments, and organizations to help people proactively respond to Typhoon No. 12.

The Cam Le Ward Police Department has established a Task Force for the prevention and control of Typhoon No. 12, comprising 41 officers and soldiers, along with complete equipment and resources, to proactively respond to all situations and ensure absolute safety of people and property; ready to deploy to assist the people when ordered.

Police officers from the ward went to each neighborhood to spread awareness and encourage residents to reinforce their houses and protect their property.

In mountainous communes, local police forces actively assist residents in storm prevention and control.

On the evening of October 20th, the police force of Tra Linh commune identified the Kon Pin hilltop area (village 2) as being at serious risk of landslides, directly affecting 8 households with a total of 34 people.

Immediately afterwards, the commune police reported to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Tra Linh commune and the Head of the Civil Defense Command of Tra Linh commune to direct the implementation of an emergency disaster prevention and control plan, and to evacuate people and property from the dangerous area.

Currently, the Tra Linh Commune Police maintain a 24/7 duty roster, closely monitoring weather developments, keeping a firm grasp of the local situation, proactively advising the Party Committee and local authorities, and coordinating with relevant forces to effectively handle any situations that may arise during Typhoon No. 12.

Along the rivers and in port areas, the Traffic Police Department directed its task forces to regularly patrol, encourage, and educate boat owners to anchor their vessels in safe locations to ensure the safety of property and people's lives before and after Typhoon No. 12 made landfall.
