On the morning of May 7 (Vietnam time), Columbia University in the US announced a series of 2024 Pulitzer Prizes in the fields of journalism, communications, publishing and arts.

According to a VNA reporter in New York, America's leading news agencies and newspapers have witnessed a bumper season of awards.

The New York Times won three Pulitzer Prizes this year for a series of journalistic works reflecting global conflicts and hot spots, such as the wave of child labor immigrants from Central America, conflicts in the Middle East...

The Pulitzer Prize for public service, considered the most prestigious in the Pulitzer Prize system, was awarded to the New York-based nonprofit journalism organization ProPublica for a series of stories exposing financial scandals involving Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

The Pulitzer Prize for investigative journalism was awarded to reporter Hannah Dreier of The Times, for her series of works that reflect the modern-day situation of immigrant child labor in the United States and the mistakes of US authorities that have caused this problem to persist.

With an excellent series of articles on the Hamas-Israel conflict and the suffering of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, The Times also won the Pulitzer Prize for international reporting.

On this occasion, the Pulitzer Prize Board issued a special statement honoring journalists covering the conflict.

The Washington Post won the Pulitzer Prize for reporting with a series of articles about rampant gun violence in the United States.

Two news agencies, Reuters (UK) and AP (US), became the owners of the Pulitzer Prize in the field of photography, one of the most prestigious awards.

AP was honored for its series of photographs of migrants from Colombia pouring into the southern US border, while Reuters was named for its candid and timely photos of the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Beginning in 1917, the Pulitzer Prizes are awarded annually by Columbia University (New York, USA) to honor outstanding works in the fields of journalism, literature, art and music .

Speaking at this year's award ceremony, a representative of the Pulitzer Prize Board expressed concern about the fluctuations in the journalism field that are causing thousands of journalists to lose their jobs and raising questions about the sustainability of the journalism industry in the US.
