Build a new home, build trust.

Recognizing that eliminating temporary and dilapidated housing is a key and important task, in recent times, all levels, sectors, and localities in the province have actively implemented and promoted awareness campaigns with the spirit of "leaving no one behind." Each newly completed house not only provides a stable place to live but also creates motivation for people to strive in labor and production, improving their lives.

Secure housing, build confidence in economic development.

Visiting the spacious new house, measuring 100 square meters with 3 bedrooms and a living room, belonging to Mr. Nguyen Van Vy's family in Be Trieu village, Bac Quang commune, one can clearly feel the joy of everyone at being able to live in a sturdy home. Their old house, built in 2007, had a thatched roof that was no longer safe during storms. Life became even more difficult when their child contracted a blood infection and intellectual disability, with all medical expenses falling on the shoulders of the couple.

The family of Ms. Luong Thi Men (center) in Minh Tam village, Bac Quang commune, received financial support to build a new, spacious house.
The family of Ms. Luong Thi Men (center) in Minh Tam village, Bac Quang commune, received financial support to build a new, spacious house.

When the government provided support for building a new house, he personally participated in the construction, exchanging over 60 days of labor with his neighbors, reducing the burden of hiring workers. Mr. Vy shared: "Thank you to the Party and the State for their care and assistance. Now that we have a solid house, my family feels more secure to continue treatment for our child and stabilize our lives." Currently, Mr. Vy stays at home to take care of his child and takes on odd jobs as a construction worker to earn extra income, while his wife works at a company in Hai Phong city with a salary of 5-6 million VND per month.

Like Mr. Vy's family, Ms. Luong Thi Men's family, from Minh Tam village, Bac Quang commune, is one of the poor households that received support to build a new house. Sharing her story, Ms. Men emotionally recounted: “My son is currently working in Bac Ninh . Our house has been dilapidated and leaking for a long time, and I live alone. Every time it rains, I have to use a cane, wear a raincoat and a hat, and go to the neighbor's house for temporary shelter. I suffered a stroke and am paralyzed on one side of my body. The treatment costs have left my family unable to save any money. Fortunately, we received support from the government to build a house and borrowed an additional 80 million VND from the Social Policy Bank. Now the house is completed and we've been living there for more than two months, so my son can work with peace of mind to gradually repay the loan.”

In Minh Phu village, Yen Phu commune, Ms. Do Thi Tinh's family is a poor household that lived for many years in a small, dilapidated house but lacked the means to build a new one. Thanks to funding from the national target program and the help of the government, relatives, and neighbors, her family now has a sturdy and safe house. Ms. Tinh shared: "All the building materials, such as iron, bricks, and sand, were 100% provided by my relatives. Now, during each rainy and stormy season, my family no longer has to live in constant fear."

Or take the case of Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong, who lives alone in the same village without a husband or children. Her house was in serious disrepair, but she lacked the financial means to build a new one. To help, the commune's Party committee and government mobilized resources, and the entire construction of the new house was supported by commune officials from the survey stage to the construction organization. When materials were lacking, family members contributed wood for doors and flooring, ensuring the house was spacious and sturdy.

Working together, united in purpose, to accomplish

Given the vast area and the large number of temporary houses needing demolition, the implementation process, with the close attention, leadership, and guidance of the Provincial and Commune Steering Committees for the demolition of temporary and dilapidated houses, has been carried out decisively from the outset. Many localities have adopted innovative and flexible approaches, such as mobilizing thousands of man-days to ensure the demolition is as quick and effective as possible; and enlisting the support of businesses and individuals to provide additional funding for households, helping them build more solid new homes.

According to a report by the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province, as of July 4, 2025, the number of completed and occupied houses in the province reached 12,737 out of 15,856 planned, equivalent to 80.33%. With a spirit of mutual support and compassion, the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses received strong support and agreement from the entire political system and enthusiastic participation from households and communities. Not only for those households benefiting from the program, but in many villages, people voluntarily contributed labor and materials, helping families from dismantling old houses, digging foundations, building walls, to completing new homes. This spirit spreads as a beautiful expression of compassion, kindling hope for many people in difficult circumstances.

According to Mr. Trinh Quoc Sang, Chairman of the People's Committee of Yen Phu commune: The program to eliminate temporary housing has been implemented effectively, mobilizing the joint efforts of the Party committee, government, and people in the area. To date, the entire commune has completed the construction of 24 out of 22 houses as planned, of which 16 have been put into use and 8 are under construction. Notably, in addition to the 22 houses built according to the plan, the commune has also mobilized social resources to build 2 more houses. Along with that, the locality is focusing on implementing solutions and issuing a poverty reduction plan, striving to have at least 52 households escape poverty by the end of 2025.

The success of the program to eliminate temporary housing is not only reflected in the numbers, but more importantly, in the spirit of solidarity and unity within the community. This is a crucial step in helping poor and near-poor households, as well as families receiving preferential treatment, to stabilize their lives and develop economically, achieving sustainable poverty alleviation. The new houses not only provide stable housing but also a solid foundation for people to work and produce with peace of mind, improving their quality of life.
