Announcing the Planning of Ben Tre Province for the period 2021

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Tran Ngoc Tam said: The process of establishing Ben Tre Provincial Planning, besides advantages, also encountered many difficulties and challenges. That is, the Provincial Planning in this period is in the direction of integrated planning, with complex nature, comprehensive content, wide research scope, completely new form compared to before, subject to the regulation of many related laws, many new and arising contents and tasks while the experience of establishing the Provincial Planning in the direction of integration of the consulting unit and staff is still limited.

According to Mr. Tran Ngoc Tam, this is an important basis for Ben Tre province to realize the goals and targets of socio -economic development of the province. In particular, Ben Tre prioritizes strong development to the East with the highlight being the sea encroachment area with an area of about 50,000 hectares to expand the development space, striving to make Ben Tre a fairly developed province of the country by 2030; in particular, aiming at the consistent goal of Ben Tre province's leaders through the periods of "People have a civilized, prosperous and happy life". Thereby, creating a foundation for Ben Tre province to achieve the goal of a prosperous province by 2050, becoming a livable place.

Speaking at the Conference, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Ben Tre Provincial People's Council, Ms. Ho Thi Hoang Yen emphasized: The announcement of the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 today is of special importance to introduce and affirm the potential, strengths and development expectations of Ben Tre in the future; opening up new development space on the basis of promoting internal resources and effectively utilizing external resources. This is a very important initial step for the development of Ben Tre province and is the basis and premise for announcing and widely informing about the development orientation, attracting and mobilizing investment resources; starting to promote the rapid and sustainable development of the province in the coming time.

According to Ms. Ho Thi Hoang Yen, as one of the 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta, Ben Tre currently has many advantages in attracting investment when Rach Mieu Bridge, Ham Luong Bridge and Co Chien Bridge are effective, creating a smooth connection between Ben Tre province and the eastern coastal provinces with dynamic economic regions such as Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities in the Southern Key Economic Zone. With those advantages, along with the determination, dynamism and strong direction of the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee, from the beginning of 2023 up to now, Ben Tre province has focused on implementing well the Government's instructions in managing the province's socio-economic development, striving to overcome difficulties and challenges, focusing all efforts to achieve the highest results of the goals and tasks set for 2023.

In order to fully promote the potential and advantages of the province, as well as effectively implement the Ben Tre Provincial Planning in the coming time, Ms. Ho Thi Hoang Yen, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Ben Tre Provincial People's Council, also requested the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee to direct the Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee to urgently develop and submit to the Prime Minister for approval the Plan to implement the Ben Tre Provincial Planning with specific goals and tasks, at the same time, clearly define the completion time as well as assign responsibilities to each organization and individual to serve as a basis for leadership and direction of implementation.

Along with that, Coordinate and manage in a unified manner, ensuring connectivity, synchronization, efficiency and consistency between the Provincial Planning and specialized planning and higher-level planning for sustainable development with a long-term vision, overall development orientation, regional linkage, promoting potential and advantages, strongly developing the socio-economy, protecting the environment and adapting to climate change.

At the same time, strengthen investment management, attract investment according to approved planning; maximize support from Central ministries and branches to promote investment in key projects and works according to the priority list in the approved Provincial Planning, especially inter-regional projects and works such as: Rach Mieu 2 Bridge, Coastal road connecting Ben Tre province with Tien Giang and Tra Vinh, Ba Lai 8 Bridge, Cua Dai Bridge, Co Chien Bridge, Dinh Khao Bridge connecting Vinh Long and Ben Tre provinces, etc., creating new space for development, not only contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of Ben Tre, but also creating a breakthrough development momentum for the Mekong Delta region in the coming time.

According to Decision No. 1399/QD-TTg dated November 17, 2023 of the Prime Minister on "Approval of the Planning of Ben Tre Province for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050", the goal by 2030 is that Ben Tre strives to become a fairly developed province in the country; focusing on developing the marine economy; processing industry and new energy associated with environmental protection, adapting to climate change; having modern urban areas, rural areas rich in identity, friendly tourism... Vision by 2050, Ben Tre is a prosperous province, becoming a livable place with modern, smart urban areas, green and clean living environment; striving to become a special type I urban administrative unit, a satellite city of Ho Chi Minh City; growth pillars with a high level of development and becoming an important development driving force of the Mekong Delta region and the whole country...
