According to the VNA reporter in Laos, on September 16, in the capital Vientiane, a delegation of the Vietnamese community in Laos led by Mr. Phan Minh Chien - Charge d'Affaires of the Vietnamese Embassy - visited the Lao Prime Minister's Office to present money to support people in the northern provinces of Laos affected by storm Yagi (storm No. 3).

At the reception, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone reported on the damage to people and property, as well as some response measures of authorities at all levels during the recent storm and flood in Laos.

Prime Minister Siphandone sincerely thanked the Vietnamese Embassy, agencies under the Embassy, Vietnamese businesses, and the Vietnamese community in Laos for their timely encouragement and support, even though Vietnam was also heavily affected by Typhoon Yagi . This demonstrates the spirit of “sharing a grain of rice in half, a vegetable in half” and always sharing joys and sorrows together in any circumstances between Laos and Vietnam.

Prime Minister Siphandone affirmed that he would transfer the money received this time to people affected by floods in many localities of Laos in recent times; at the same time, he assigned the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association to continue mobilizing and calling for support to help the people of Laos and Vietnam.

Chargé d'Affaires Phan Minh Chien expressed his sympathy to the Party, Government and people of the Lao ethnic groups, especially the local authorities and families of the victims affected by the recent natural disasters.

Mr. Phan Minh Chien expressed his belief that under the leadership and close attention of the Lao Party and Government from the central to local levels, the Lao people and Lao ethnic groups will overcome all difficulties and the lives of people in affected areas will soon return to normal.

In the presence of Prime Minister Siphandone, on behalf of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, agencies affiliated to the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, the Vietnamese Business Association in Laos, and the Vietnamese community in Laos, Mr. Phan Minh Chien presented 300 million kip (13,580 USD) to Lao Minister of Labor and Social Welfare Baykham Khattiya to help Lao people in disaster-stricken areas restore production and stabilize their lives./.
