Due to not being able to recover from his injury (foot pain), striker Nguyen Cong Phuong was forced to say goodbye to the Vietnamese team and return to his club to continue treatment.
Previously, Cong Phuong had his first training session with the Vietnamese team on May 30, but then had to miss two consecutive training sessions before returning on June 2. However, after carefully examining the injury, the team doctors were forced to ask the Binh Phuoc Club striker to stop training for monitoring.

It is a pity for Cong Phuong personally as he is determined to make his mark in this training session. After nearly 2 years, the striker from Nghe An has returned to the Vietnam team, and he is in his best form.
Before joining the Vietnam national team, Cong Phuong scored a total of 9 goals for Binh Phuoc Club (7 goals in the First Division and 2 goals in the National Cup). Recently, Cong Phuong has become especially dangerous with set-piece situations. Coach Kim Sang Sik himself came to the stadium to watch Cong Phuong play before adding the 30-year-old player to the Vietnam national team list.
Cong Phuong had to say goodbye to the Vietnam team.
This is really bad news for coach Kim Sang Sik, in the context that the Vietnamese team is lacking good strikers to prepare for the crucial match with Malaysia on June 10.
After Cong Phuong left the national team, coach Kim Sang Sik now has 3 strikers: Tien Linh, Tuan Hai and Thanh Binh. Among them, Tien Linh is not in good form after 10 consecutive "goalless" matches in V-League 2024/25, Tuan Hai is unstable, and Thanh Binh is not a striker capable of scoring goals.
In order to have more options for the attack, coach Kim Sang Sik decided to promote striker Quoc Viet from the U22 team to the Vietnam national team. Before that, the Korean strategist also had to call up young central defender Pham Ly Duc after Thanh Binh and Viet Anh were injured and could not join the national team.
