There were 80 corgi "dogs" attending, creating an extremely bustling atmosphere. In each round, 10 dogs wearing numbered jerseys participated in the intense competition to the cheers of the spectators.
Laughing out loud when the owner shouts one way, the corgi runs another way
Originally a friendly dog breed, easy to make friends, but when brought to participate in a race with too many people and other four-legged "friends", many corgis cannot avoid losing focus and... forgetting their main task.
When the starting shout was heard from the race leader, the barrier was opened, many dogs followed their owner's call and ran straight forward. But many "dog players" stopped to interact with each other, even taking the opportunity to "mark their territory" and... be aggressive.
Many "fathers and mothers" - as pet lovers at the event jokingly called them - screamed until their throats were hoarse but to no avail. Some families even used dog training tools, toys, and teddy bears to lure their dogs to the finish line.
Many attendees could not hide their laughter when they saw the short-legged, chubby dogs playing all sorts of funny tricks. Many "introverted" dogs, when they did not see their owners, would quickly look around and even run away when they saw other "friends" running over to get acquainted and sniff them.
Owner and dog practice together before the competition
Ms. Nhu, owner of a corgi named Xuc Xich, one of the three dogs that won the final round of the marathon, said this was the first time she brought her pet dog to participate.
"Before the competition, we let the baby practice for 2 days. I will call the baby's name to run, and run with the baby," she shared.
Meanwhile, Truc Linh, the owner of a corgi named Pumpkin, couldn't help but feel regretful when her pet dog made it to the final round, but the finale had an unexpected turn.
"I was almost at the finish line, only 1 meter left when Bí Đỏ suddenly turned," she said. Linh shared that her family has three dogs, including a corgi and two French bulldogs. Since there was a corgi marathon, Linh decided to bring Bí Đỏ to participate.
The dogs participating in the competition are all loved and pampered by their owners. In addition to their silky fur thanks to careful care, the "dog players" are given water right before and after the competition, and are held and cuddled by their owners. Some owners even bring banners to cheer them on, or push their dogs into the event in strollers.
