Vietnamese youth weightlifters win overwhelmingly in Asian arena

The 2025 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships will take place at the Qazaqstan Athletics Arena, Astana (Kazakhstan) from July 4 to 10.

The tournament attracted over 300 athletes from 25 countries and territories, competing in 20 weight categories in age groups from 17 to 20.

Not only is it an opportunity for young Asian athletes to assert their position in the international arena, the tournament is also an opportunity for countries to prepare their forces for many future weightlifting events at all levels. Along with the two main faces K'Duong and Hung Van The, the Vietnamese youth team has 14 other strong members, including A Tieu, Ka Hoai, Tran Thi Hien, Luong Thi Thanh Tuyen..., led directly by head coach Luu Van Thang.

On the first day of competition, Dao Thi Yen left a strong impression with 2 gold medals and 1 silver medal in the 44 kg women's youth category, contributing to the overall achievement of 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals of the Vietnamese youth team.

The Vietnamese youth athletes exploded in performance as they won a total of nine gold medals and broke three age group records on the second day of competition at the 2025 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships.

As expected, Hung Van The performed excellently in the 56 kg men's youth category when he won all 3 gold medals in the clean and jerk, snatch and total, achieving 242 kg. In the 60 kg men's youth category, K'Duong and Duong Tuan Kiet together brought home 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal (K'Duong) and 1 gold medal, 2 bronze medals (Duong Tuan Kiet) along with 1 Asian record.

Luong Thi Thanh Tuyen won 3 gold medals in the 53 kg women's youth category with a total lift of 183 kg and a new age group record, helping the Vietnamese youth weightlifting team rank second in the youth group (3 gold medals, 5 silver medals, 7 bronze medals) and top the youth group (8 gold medals, 6 silver medals, 2 bronze medals) after 3 days of competition.
