Artist Thanh Lựu (Tran Huu Trang Theater) presents gifts to impoverished artists at the Tan Binh Cultural Center's traditional music and cải lương (Vietnamese folk opera) exchange stage.
In the warm and friendly atmosphere of a regular art gathering, the Tan Binh Amateur and Cai Luong Exchange Club continued its noble gesture by providing support to veteran artists facing difficulties: artist Phuong Binh, the family of the late artist Quoc Tram, and artist Ngoc Nga.
A tribute to the artists who have dedicated themselves to cải lương (Vietnamese traditional opera).
Previously, the club visited and presented gifts to renowned senior artists such as People's Artist Hung Minh, Meritorious Artist Thanh Nguyet, and Meritorious Artist To Kim Hong… Artist Thanh Luu – the club's chairman – said that these were small gifts, but they contained heartfelt gratitude. It was a token of appreciation for those who have dedicated their lives to Cai Luong theater and to traditional national art.
Behind this charitable endeavor is artist Thanh Luu, who has quietly and persistently built the Tan Binh Traditional Music and Cai Luong Exchange Club. This is a space brimming with artistic spirit, where like-minded souls can together rekindle their passion for traditional music and Cai Luong – art forms deeply intertwined with the cultural identity of Southern Vietnam.

A place that preserves the spirit of talent and shares love.
The club is not only a playground for the arts, but also a place to connect hearts. Through each exchange and performance, artists and audiences relive the sweet melodies of traditional folk songs and the echoes of ancient plays that resonate the soul of the nation.
At the same time, this is also where artist Thanh Luu and her colleagues fulfill their mission of spreading love – by providing practical care to elderly, sick, and struggling artists. This includes gifts, warm visits from colleagues, and ensuring no one is forgotten in life.

Artists from the Tan Binh Traditional Music and Cai Luong Club visited the couple, Meritorious Artists Thanh Nguyet and Quoc Nhi.
Sending heartfelt gratitude to the artists/stars of Cai Luong (Vietnamese traditional opera).
During the recent gathering, attendees were deeply moved to see artist Phuong Binh – a renowned leading actor of his time – with his kind face and calm demeanor, quietly receiving a heartfelt gift from the club. He was the winner of the Thanh Tam Gold Medal in 1967 – the most prestigious award in the Cai Luong (Vietnamese traditional opera) theater at that time. He is known for many outstanding roles, but what remains deeply ingrained in the hearts of the audience is his warm, deep voice in the traditional duet "My Homeland, Your Homeland" – a masterpiece by composer Trong Nguyen, which he and Meritorious Artist My Chau performed after the country's reunification. That song still resonates on the radio waves and remains in the memories of many Cai Luong lovers as a testament to its golden age.
Representing the family of the late artist Quoc Tram, Mr. Liem – the son of the kind and down-to-earth artist who dedicated his life to Cai Luong (Vietnamese traditional opera) – emotionally expressed his gratitude to the Club:
"Our family is truly grateful for the kindness of Mr. Thanh Luu and the members of the Club. During this difficult time, receiving support from former colleagues and those who share the same passion is incredibly valuable to our family."

Artist Phuong Binh also shared in a slow voice, but with eyes still shining with emotion: "I didn't think I would still be remembered like this. Receiving this gift today, I feel like I've been given renewed strength. Thank you to our young colleagues, thank you to those who still love Cai Luong and haven't forgotten old artists like me."
During the gift-giving ceremony, the club presented gifts to artist Ngoc Nga (an actress from the Tran Huu Trang shock troop), who is currently facing great difficulties as she is raising her sick young child alone.
The continuation and dissemination of heritage
Don ca tai tu – recognized by UNESCO as a Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity – is not only an art form, but also a way for people in Southern Vietnam to preserve their soul and identity through each song and melody.
Cai Luong (Vietnamese traditional opera), with a history spanning over 100 years, has touched the hearts of generations of Vietnamese people. In the current context, where traditional theater faces many challenges, activities like those of the Tan Binh Cai Luong and Traditional Opera Exchange Club represent a persistent effort to keep the flame alive – not only the artistic flame, but also the human connection.

Artist Thanh Luu, who spearheaded the initiative, not only organized the event but also quietly mobilized resources, ensuring that each gathering was not only artistic but also a humanitarian endeavor.
When passion for the profession is the foundation.
Perhaps a cultural exchange program or a gift cannot change destiny, but it can warm a heart, and that is what art always strives for – connecting people through emotions, sincerity, and gratitude.
From the heart of an artist – a journey connecting heritage and human connection. This journey is quiet, yet persistent, and deserves to be recognized as a beautiful expression of humanity in everyday life.
The club includes young artists such as: Yen Khoa (winner of the HTV 2023 Bronze Bell Award for traditional Vietnamese singing), Nguyen Thanh Truong (winner of the VOH Golden Rice Award in 2022), Thuy Trang (third prize winner of the Golden Rice Award in 2022), Tan Xuyen (fourth prize winner of the Golden Rice Award in 2024)...
