Fashion stores in Hanoi compete to hang up signs offering 80% off, clearing out inventory for Tet

After a shopping trip along Chua Boc Street (Dong Da), Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy (27 years old) bought 3 bags of satisfactory clothes with a total value of about 5 million.

"Only on special occasions do stores offer discounts like this, so I took the opportunity to buy for myself and my family during Tet," Huy shared.

As a regular shopper on Chua Boc Street, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Thuy (48 years old) said that discount and promotion programs make products sell out very quickly, just a few days late and there may be no more products left.

“This year, I was busy so I didn’t go shopping for clothes until the 28th of the lunar calendar, but the models I liked were sold out a few days ago,” said Ms. Thuy.

Ms. Ngoc Thuy said that this is the time when many people go out to shop and reward themselves after a year of hard work.

According to a female employee at a clothing store on Chua Boc Street, since applying many promotions and discounts, her store has had more and more customers, and the number of sales each day is stable.

"This helps my store sell a large number of products, so we can import more new and trendy models," said the female employee.

However, this employee said that due to the large number of customers, employees at the stores had to work continuously to serve people's needs.

According to Lao Dong Newspaper at noon on February 7, clothing and cosmetics stores on " fashion streets" such as Cau Giay Street and Chua Boc Street have launched many promotional programs and deep discounts to attract people near Tet.

With many attractive promotions, these stores are always bustling with buyers and sellers. However, the number of motorbikes parked outside by customers has covered the sidewalks, even spilling onto the street, causing the street to always be congested.

Programs such as “Warehouse Clearance”, “Buy 1 Get 1 Free” or “80% Discount” are the forms chosen by stores to appeal to the psychology of shoppers. Some retailers even choose to hang clothes and display them on the sidewalk to attract customers.
