SFK 2000 absolutely dominated the Bosnian Women's National Championship. |
SFK 2000, a Sarajevo-based club, made football history by winning its 23rd consecutive national championship, an unprecedented feat in any football tournament in the world . According to El Pais , this record is recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records.
In the 2025 season, the team continued to dominate domestic opponents, with an unbeaten record and an average of more than 5 goals per game, according to statistics from the Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. With such dominance in the domestic league, SFK 2000 hardly encountered worthy opponents.
Domestic matches often end in big scores, leaving the team with little opportunity to challenge and improve their level. According to Sportske Novosti , SFK 2000 won 90% of their matches in the 2024/25 season by at least three goals, showing the huge gap in level between them and the rest of the teams.
This, while a proud achievement, also raises questions about the long-term development of Bosnian women’s football and the club. With absolute domestic dominance, the team now has a more ambitious goal: to form a cross-border league with top clubs from other Balkan countries.
Over the past few seasons, SFK 2000 has also competed in the UEFA Women's Champions League, but their performance in this tournament has been modest, often stopping at the preliminary rounds.
Therefore, the idea of establishing a cross-border league with top clubs from the Balkan region is being seriously considered, in order to create a competitive environment for SFK 2000 to develop. SFK 2000 is exploring the possibility of establishing a regional league with the participation of top women's teams from Balkan countries such as Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, Slovenia and Albania.
