Civil Aviation Authority urgent instructions

Việt NamViệt Nam03/02/2024

According to the Civil Aviation Authority, in recent days, at airports in the Northern region, fog, low clouds, and reduced visibility below flight operating standards have negatively affected flight operations. Many flights have had to divert or be delayed.

According to information from the meteorological forecasting agency, this weather pattern may continue until February 8 (ie the 29th day of Tet) from night to early morning.

To proactively prevent, limit and minimize negative impacts caused by weather developments, the leaders of the Department require airlines to proactively monitor weather developments, coordinate with airports, Air Traffic Management Centers, flight management companies, etc. to have appropriate plans and operational strategies.

Airlines must promptly notify and have plans to serve passengers in case of changes in transportation plans.

The Department also requested the Airports Corporation and affected airports to increase the deployment of service and operation forces at the ports; promptly release aircraft...

Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation closely coordinates with relevant meteorological agencies to promptly deploy CDM, monitor and operate flight operations in accordance with weather developments. At the same time, coordinate and support airlines and airports in operations, ensure safety and minimize negative impacts caused by weather.

The Department also requires the Port Authorities to monitor, supervise and manage the operations of airlines to ensure security and safety; and handle in accordance with regulations and authority any issues arising in aviation operations at the port.

In the past few days, a series of flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Noi Bai ( Hanoi ), Tho Xuan (Thanh Hoa), Vinh (Nghe An), Phu Bai (Hue) airports had to adjust their take-off times, delayed by 2 to 6 hours due to the effects of fog. As a result, a series of domestic and international flights were affected.

At Tan Son Nhat airport, many flights were delayed, making passengers wait in a difficult situation. Some people said that when they arrived at the airport, they received a notice of a 3-6 hour delay from the airline, so they were very tired of waiting. Many people were traveling with children and carrying a lot of luggage, so it was even more difficult.
