On the evening of April 8, the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department said that currently, some subjects impersonating tax officials and civil servants provide links and then instruct users to install fake applications (apps) of state agencies to take control of phones and smart devices, steal personal information, and bank account information for the purpose of appropriating property.
Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department announced that the tax industry apps that the department is deploying on smart devices are only available through Google Play (for devices using Android operating system) and AppleStore (for devices using iOS operating system).
Taxpayers when using apps developed by the tax industry and provided on smart devices such as: Etax Mobile, Invoice Lookup, HCMTax... need to pay attention to accessing and downloading the official app via Google Play and AppStore, and check the author (developer) information.
Taxpayers should contact the hotline numbers of tax branches and the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department listed on the department's website when needing information support; do not download or install apps for smart devices through unofficial links (urls) or instructions.
The Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department noted that one of the signs to identify fraudulent apps is that when installing these apps, users are often asked to grant permissions such as: viewing the screen, inputting data, controlling the screen... Taxpayers need to check the app and its features before granting these permissions.
