On the morning of May 10, on the occasion of attending the 42nd Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his pleasure at meeting Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone again and respectfully conveyed the warm regards of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and other senior leaders of Vietnam to comrade Sonexay Siphandone and other leaders of the Lao Party and State.

Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone was delighted to meet Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh again at his first ASEAN Summit; highly appreciated the success of the visits to Laos by President Vo Van Thuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and hoped that the two sides would continue to increase high-level visits and contacts.

Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone sincerely thanked Vietnam for its effective support and cooperation with Laos in socio-economic development; affirmed that the inauguration and handover of the Nong Khang airport project in Hua Phan province and the Friendship Hospital project in Xieng Khoan province this May demonstrated the solidarity and friendship between the leaders of the two Parties and the two Governments. The Lao Prime Minister respectfully conveyed the greetings of the Lao Party and State leaders to the Vietnamese Party and State leaders.

The two Prime Ministers agreed to coordinate effectively in implementing high-level agreements and bilateral cooperation mechanisms; make joint efforts to enhance cooperation, promote economic connectivity, effective integration, and support each other in socio-economic development. The two Governments are determined to remove obstacles and promote the implementation of key projects, improve the investment environment; focus on directing the effective implementation of agreements and results achieved during the official visit to Laos and co-chairing of the 45th Meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh once again affirmed Vietnam's commitment to providing the highest level of support and assistance for Laos to successfully assume the role of ASEAN Chair 2024. Prime Minister Sonesay affirmed that Laos is ready to support Vietnam's candidacy for the United Nations agencies and international organizations.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh respectfully invited the Prime Minister of Laos to visit Vietnam this year./.
