Da Nang: Quan The Am Pagoda is ready to welcome Buddha's relics

NDO - From May 30 to June 2, Buddha's relics will be respectfully carried and enshrined at Quan The Am Pagoda (48 Su Van Hanh, Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, Da Nang City) for monks, nuns, Buddhists, people, and tourists to come and worship.

Currently, preparations and organization for this special event are being focused on.

In recent days, monks, nuns, and Buddhists in Da Nang and neighboring provinces and cities have been busy preparing for the invitation and worship of Buddha's relics at Quan The Am Pagoda, Da Nang City.

Accordingly, this is the first time that the Buddha's relics, the sacred remains left after Buddha Shakyamuni entered nirvana, have been enshrined in Da Nang city. The event has special spiritual, cultural and religious significance, promising to attract a large number of people and tourists to come and worship.

Currently, preparations for the procession, enshrinement and worship of Buddha's relics at Quan The Am Pagoda are being urgently completed. The stage area, the space for the relics to be placed, worshipped and prayed for have been formed with the active contribution of many monks, nuns and Buddhists from many provinces and cities. Along with that, the sound system, lighting and environmental sanitation have also been upgraded synchronously.

According to Venerable Thich Thong Dao, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Da Nang City, with the approval of the Governments of India and Vietnam, the consensus of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, and the Da Nang City government, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Da Nang City invited the Buddha's relics, a national treasure of India, to be enshrined at Quan The Am Pagoda.

The procession of Buddha's relics from the airport to Quan The Am Pagoda is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on May 30. The procession route from Da Nang airport will take place along Nguyen Van Linh-Bach Dang-Tran Phu-Dragon Bridge-Ngo Quyen-Ngu Hanh Son-Le Van Hien-Su Van Hanh-Quan The Am Pagoda.

The ceremony to send off the relics of Buddha Shakyamuni from Quan The Am Pagoda to Da Nang airport to return to India on June 2nd, following the route: from Quan The Am Pagoda via Su Van Hanh Street - Le Van Hien Street - Tien Son Bridge - 2/9 Street - Nguyen Van Linh Street - Da Nang airport.

In order for the procession and farewell ceremony of the Buddha's relics to be solemn and dignified, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Da Nang city informs the monks and nuns of the monasteries to arrange their time and attire to attend. The Organizing Committee will arrange 20-25 cars to transport the monks and nuns to attend the event.

On the procession route, monasteries and Buddhist followers can greet each other along the road to show respect for the relics of the enlightened one.

Venerable Thich Thong Dao said that the Buddha's relics being invited to Da Nang is a rare event and also a great blessing for monks, nuns and Buddhists in the central region.

The organizers will open the door for monks, nuns, Buddhists and those who love Buddhism to pay homage to the Buddha's relics from 7 p.m. on May 30 and continue 24/7 to meet the worshiping needs.

Within the framework of the event, there will be a Buddha relic worship ceremony, meditation, and a peace prayer ceremony. Monks, nuns, Buddhists, people, and tourists participating in the procession and worship route should wear polite and discreet clothing when entering the temple, maintain order, maintain general hygiene, and follow the instructions of the Organizing Committee and the temple.
