Starting July 15, Canva users can create, edit, and manage their designs by describing their requests to Anthropic’s Claude AI, a new step that allows tasks to be performed quickly, right within the chatbot interface.
Similarly, users with a Claude AI account can simply type natural language commands to perform design tasks on their linked Canva account. The feature also allows keyword searches in Canva Docs, Presentations, and branded templates, and content summaries right on the Claude AI interface.
“Instead of having to manually upload or transfer ideas, users can now create, brief, review, and publish Canva designs, all within a conversation with Claude,” said Anwar Haneef, Canva’s Chief Ecosystem Officer.
This is one of the latest integrations that allows Claude users to access third-party tools and services like Figma, Notion, Stripe, and Prisma without ever leaving the conversation with the AI chatbot. To use this feature, users need to sign up for both a paid Canva account (starting at $15 /month) and a paid Claude account ( $17 /month).
Anthropic, Claude AI’s parent company, is using the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which Canva launched last month, to give Claude secure access to users’ Canva content. The protocol, described as the “USB-C port of AI applications,” is an open-source standard that makes it easy for developers to connect their models to other apps and services.
Companies like Anthropic, Microsoft, Figma, and Canva have adopted MCP to prepare for a future where AI agents will become ubiquitous. “MCP makes this connection possible with just a toggle in settings, marking a major shift toward AI-centric workflows that combine creativity and productivity in one seamless experience,” said Haneef.
Claude is the first AI assistant to support the design process in Canva through MCP. The chatbot also integrated with other design platforms like Figma last month through a similar partnership. Claude also recently launched a new integrations directory on the web and desktop, making it easier for users to keep track of all the connected tools and apps they can use.
Canva is an online graphic design platform that allows users to easily create design products such as presentations, social media posts, posters, invitations, CVs, videos , etc. without the need for professional design skills. In Vietnam, this is a popular tool for content creators and media professionals, helping to optimize work performance.
