Vinicius has caused a lot of controversy at Real Madrid.

Marcelo Vieira recently made headlines when he gave Vinicius Junior some straightforward advice during an appearance on Iker Casillas’ podcast “Bajo Los Palos by Flexicar.” The Brazilian defender, who is set to retire in 2025 after winning 25 trophies with Real Madrid, shared many stories about his career, including his comments about his compatriot.

Casillas questioned Vinicius, Real Madrid's most important player in recent years but also constantly at the center of controversy because of his attitude and reactions on the field. Marcelo recalled the time when Vinicius first arrived in Madrid at the age of 18: "He was a kid, he had many problems, he had many things to improve. But he was a boy with a good heart and intelligence. He knew what he needed to do to improve."

Marcelo affirmed that Vinicius is currently an “indisputable” player, possessing rare intelligence and speed in handling the ball. However, he also admitted that the pressure on the Brazilian striker is huge: “At Real Madrid, everyone is under the spotlight. Vinicius’s case is even more serious. Talking to others, to the coach… in the end it is your own problem.”

From his experience, Marcelo gave a short but strong piece of advice: “He needs to be quiet, train, play, score goals. Let them talk. Keep calm. And that’s what he’s doing now.”

Marcelo's message was notable for its directness, but also reflected his defense of Vinicius, a player who is both a big star and a frequent target of attack from the media and opponents.
