According to information from the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department (PCCC&CNCH), Da Nang City Police, at around 6:30 a.m. on August 1, two students, NQT (born 2005, residing in Hai Chau Ward) and NTT (born 2005, residing in Son Tra Ward) invited each other to Vung Bot stream to have fun. While wading across the stream, both of them unfortunately slipped, fell into the water and went missing.
Upon discovering the incident, local residents quickly reported it to the authorities. Immediately afterwards, Hai Van Ward Police coordinated with Fire Prevention and Rescue forces, local militia and professional units to urgently approach the scene and organize search and rescue.
After nearly 3 hours of searching, at around 10am the same day, the bodies of the two victims were found not far from the accident site. Authorities carried out the necessary procedures and handed over the bodies to their families for burial according to local customs.
Regarding the incident, Mr. Nguyen Thuc Dung, Chairman of Hai Van Ward People's Committee, said: "This is the upstream area of the river, the water is deep and there are many slippery rocky sections, which are very dangerous during the rainy season. The local government has repeatedly warned people not to come to this area to have fun, especially young people."
