Da Nang rewards science and technology activities and innovative startups in 2024

In 2024, the Department of Science and Technology of Da Nang received a total of 239 applications for awards, including 3 inventions, 3 utility solutions granted protection certificates; 19 works winning the "Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation" award, 214 scientific articles published in international journals. The Department of Science and Technology of Da Nang has appraised and organized a Scientific Advisory Council to select the applications and submit them to the Chairman of the City People's Committee for consideration and decision on awards.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi - Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit from the City Chairman to organizations and individuals with outstanding achievements in science and technology and innovation activities in 2024.

In celebration of Vietnam Science and Technology Day on May 18, on the afternoon of May 12, the Department of Science and Technology of Da Nang organized a ceremony to award certificates of merit from the Chairman of the City People's Committee according to Decision 1160/QD-UBND dated April 10, 2025 for 3 inventions, 2 utility solutions granted protection certificates; 19 works winning the "Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation" award and 49 scientific articles published in prestigious international journals.

Along with that, the Department of Science and Technology of Da Nang also organized the awarding of certificates of merit from the Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City according to Decision 886/QD-UBND dated March 14, 2025 to 9 collectives and 9 individuals who had outstanding achievements in start-up and innovation activities (I&C) in 2024.

Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Da Nang Le Thi Thuc said that the consideration of rewards in science and technology and innovation activities has been implemented by Da Nang since 2014. This is a special policy of the city to promptly encourage and honor organizations and individuals with outstanding achievements in science and technology and innovation activities.

Many organizations and individuals were commended by the Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City for their outstanding achievements in science and technology and innovation activities in 2024.

During the implementation process, the Department of Science and Technology of Da Nang regularly reviews to advise, propose and adjust regulations on rewards to suit the practical situation of the city. Currently, the consideration of rewards in science and technology activities and innovative startups has been carried out annually, promptly rewarding and honoring organizations and individuals who have made positive contributions to science and technology activities and innovative startups of the city.

To date, the People's Committee of Da Nang City has awarded a total of 19 inventions and 16 utility solutions with protection certificates; 56 works and achievements that have won science and technology awards at the ministerial, industry and national levels; and 738 scientific articles published in prestigious international journals with a total prize money of over 2.5 billion VND.

In 2024, for the fourth consecutive year, Da Nang was honored with the “City of Innovation Startup Attraction” Award by the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association. At the same time, this is the first year Da Nang is in the top 1,000 global cities for startup ecosystems according to the ranking of the StartupBlink Center for Research and Mapping the Global Startup Ecosystem.

“These titles are not only proof of the city’s right direction but also clearly demonstrate Da Nang’s pioneering role in the strategy of developing science and technology, innovation and national digital transformation,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi - Vice Chairwoman of the City People’s Committee, Chairwoman of the Da Nang City Council of Science, Technology and Innovation Startup emphasized at the ceremony on the afternoon of May 12.
