Da Nang releases doves of peace, welcomes 'Unification Train' on the occasion of April 30 - May 1

(PLVN) - On the occasion of April 30 and May 1 this year, Da Nang City organized many unique cultural and tourism activities to serve the people and tourists. The highlight was the welcoming ceremony of the "Unification Train" at Da Nang Station with the ritual of releasing doves of peace, symbolizing the aspiration for unification, peace and development.

According to information from the Da Nang Department of Tourism, in the framework of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, the city coordinated with the Vietnam Railway Corporation to organize a special welcoming ceremony for the North-South train pair named "The Reunification Train". Train SE1 departs from Hanoi and train SE4 from Ho Chi Minh City, expected to meet in Da Nang at noon on April 30, bringing about 310 passengers to the city.

Traditional art activities on the Da Nang - Hue heritage train will be performed to welcome tourists on the occasion of April 30 - May 1.

The welcoming ceremony was held at Da Nang Station with the participation of representatives of state management agencies, the railway industry and a large number of people. The program included traditional art performances, flowers and souvenirs for passengers. In particular, the ceremony of releasing doves of peace at the station was considered a highlight carrying the message of solidarity, friendship and aspiration for sustainable development.

The City Department of Tourism said that during this year's holiday, the number of visitors to Da Nang by rail is estimated to reach more than 13,200, up 10% over the same period in 2024. Room occupancy at 4- to 5-star accommodations is expected to reach 75-80%. Da Nang International Airport is expected to operate about 700 flights, up 16%, an average of 138 flights/day.

In addition, Da Nang Port Joint Stock Company said that during the holiday, Tien Sa port will welcome the international ship Aidastella with about 2,000 guests from many countries, visiting the city's famous attractions such as Ngu Hanh Son, Linh Ung Pagoda, Cham Sculpture Museum...

The number of tourists to Da Nang is expected to increase during the April 30 and May 1 holidays.

In addition to activities at the train station, the city also launched the program "Opening the 2025 beach tourism season" with the theme "Blue Wave Dance", held from April 26 to May 2 at East Sea Park and major beaches. Outstanding activities include artistic kite performances, sea swimming competitions, beach sports, painting exhibitions, flower streets and check-in models.

The above activities not only contribute to creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere during the holiday but also affirm the efforts of the city government in recovering and developing the tourism industry after the pandemic, aiming to build Da Nang into a regional and international tourism and service center.
