Less than an hour later, more than 500 officers and soldiers marched through the night to reach the scene, coordinated with local forces to deploy rescue plans, and made efforts to keep every meter of the embankment threatened by floodwaters, protecting the safety of the residential area.
Previously, the City Military Command coordinated with local forces to reinforce more than 500 meters of embankment. However, due to prolonged rain and heavy floods from upstream, many embankment sections continued to be eroded. At the scene, high floodwaters and strong currents complicated the situation, directly threatening the residential area of An Luong village. The armed forces urgently isolated key points and organized control of each dangerous location to protect people's lives and property.
Colonel Tran Huu Ich - Commander of the Da Nang City Military Command said that the militia and self-defense force of the Defense Command of Area 5 - Dien Ban and units under the City Military Command mobilized immediately that night to handle the situation. He added that the immediate task is to use all measures to maintain the embankment, not to let the waves encroach and cause further erosion, and to continue to reinforce the following day to ensure long-term safety.
In the emergency, the forces were divided into many small groups, closely following each vulnerable embankment section, transporting each bag of soil and setting up steel cages for temporary reinforcement. With almost no time to rest, officers and soldiers quickly ate bread and drank spring water to maintain their strength. According to records at the scene, each embankment section that was maintained was the result of the determination, responsibility and dedication of the armed forces, always accompanying the Party Committee, government and people of An Luong village in the effort to fight against the flood.
Mr. Ngo Van Hai - Head of An Luong village, Duy Nghia commune expressed his gratitude for the spirit of the forces: "The soldiers of the Military Region and the City Military Command, even in the middle of the night, still marched to support us to reinforce the embankment and protect the residential area. The people of An Luong are very respectful and grateful."
Currently, the forces are still maintaining their numbers at the scene, continuing to inspect and reinforce embankment sections at risk of landslides. The Da Nang City Military Command is coordinating with local authorities and relevant agencies to comprehensively assess the risks, propose structural and non-structural solutions for long-term response. The ultimate goal is to ensure the safety of An Luong villagers in the face of increasingly extreme weather events.
