The regulation “don’t drive after drinking alcohol” has contributed to reducing traffic accidents. And the fact that the authorities have increased penalties for those who violate this regulation shows the strictness of the law; it is agreed and supported by the majority of Ha Tinh people.
Recently, a “petition” with quite strange and curious content has appeared on social networks. The petition is said to be from an association of restaurants providing services at a coastal tourist area in Loc Ha district, sent to provincial leaders and the police.

Content of the petition: After a long period of interruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic, tourism business activities were severely affected; many restaurant and pub owners who invested in facilities suffered losses. Now that tourism has recovered, restaurants are back to bustling business serving tourists.
However, the increased control and punishment of alcohol concentration violations by authorities has made people and tourists hesitant when eating and drinking, affecting the consumption level of restaurants and pubs.
The petitioner requests that all levels and sectors relax regulations on alcohol concentration inspection and penalties on routes with tourist areas to create favorable conditions for them to do business, contributing to stimulating local tourism.
Ha Tinh traffic police measure alcohol concentration of traffic participants.
The authenticity of this petition is not yet clear, but the story has caused many conflicting opinions in public. Many people agree, but many also oppose it.
In fact, most traffic accidents originate from the awareness of traffic participants, of which, accidents related to the use of alcohol and stimulants account for a large part.
The regulation “don’t drive after drinking” has contributed to reducing traffic accidents. And the fact that the authorities have increased penalties for those who violate this regulation shows the strictness of the law; it is supported by the majority of people.
"If you drink alcohol, don't drive."
Therefore, people, tourists and restaurant and pub owners in general, and in tourist destinations in particular, need to raise their awareness of law compliance on this issue. In order not to affect business activities, instead of proposing changes to legal regulations, restaurant owners should find more reasonable and safer solutions such as: arranging staff to pick up and drop off guests; linking up to open additional pick-up and drop-off services at low costs; coordinating with taxi companies to serve customers... Only then will customers be safe and restaurants will increase sales.
