Vietnamese goods dominate
At bookstores and stationery stores, textbooks and supplementary books from grades 1 to 12 are fully displayed, with a variety of designs and types. The books are displayed on shelves in an eye-catching, easy-to-choose manner, and there is a team of consultants to support buyers.
The highlight of the school supplies market in recent years is that Vietnamese products dominate due to reasonable prices, guaranteed quality, and are trusted by parents.
School supplies such as eye-protective lamps, pencil cases made from environmentally friendly materials, and school bags that prevent scoliosis, hunchback, and shoulder deviation are also receiving attention from parents.
This year, the prices of books, notebooks, and learning materials of all kinds are stable, not increasing compared to the previous school year. Specifically, the price of a set of primary school textbooks ranges from 230,000 to 340,000 VND/set; middle school and high school textbooks range from over 200,000 to 350,000 VND/set.
In addition, the equipment set used with elementary school textbooks ranges from 95,000 to 140,000 VND/set; pencils and pens for students range from 2,000 to 10,000 VND/piece; school bags and backpacks range from 150,000 to 600,000 VND/piece; and school uniforms range from 200,000 to 350,000 VND/set.
Notebooks of brands such as Campus, Hong Ha, Hai Tien range from 9 - 25 thousand VND/book; pencils and ballpoint pens of brands Thien Long, Hong Ha cost from 3 - 10 thousand VND/piece; markers and erasers cost from 8 - 20 thousand VND/piece...
Shops and bookstores also apply promotional programs and offer many attractive incentives to attract customers, with special attention paid to Vietnamese products.
The number of visitors to bookstores in July also began to increase significantly. Many parents chose to buy early to be more proactive in spending and avoid overloading near the first day of school.
Ms. Le Thi Lien (Hoa Cuong ward) has 2 children in grades 6 and 9. She shared: “I see that the prices of items for the new school year have not increased and there are many promotional programs. For each subject, I only choose 1-2 necessary reference books for my children to study, not buying too much, causing waste. I prioritize choosing Vietnamese products because I find the designs beautiful, the quality good, and the prices reasonable.”
Similarly, Mr. Trinh Quang Dien (An Hai ward) brought his daughter who is about to enter 3rd grade to the bookstore and shared: “I took the opportunity to buy early so that my child has enough books and notebooks, avoiding the crowd. Buying each part in advance also helps reduce financial pressure rather than buying everything at once. I see that the school supplies and school bags have a variety of designs, with beautiful 3D prints, so my child really likes them.”
Proactive abundant source of goods
As a major supplier of textbooks, Danang School Equipment and Books Joint Stock Company (DANABOOK) has prepared a sufficient number of textbooks, pages, equipment and learning materials.
Mr. Nguyen Van Can, Director of the company, said that to serve the new school year 2025 - 2026, since the end of April, the company has proactively imported 1.4 million copies of textbooks and supplementary books.
Specifically, 717,000 copies were sold for primary school, 441,000 copies for middle school, and 242,000 copies for high school. To date, more than 942,000 copies have been sold.
This school year, the company prepares an abundant source of notebooks and school supplies, with diverse designs, rich types and prices that have not changed much compared to the previous school year.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Danh, owner of Anh Quan Bookstore (Dien Ban Tay Commune), said that as of mid-July, the bookstore had sold about 60-70% of the total number of imported books, of which the group of books for grades 1, 6 and 10 had the strongest consumption. Accordingly, purchasing power this year increased significantly, especially in June and early July. Overall, sales increased about 25-30% compared to the same period last year, thanks to proactive communication and early implementation of incentive and discount programs.
A representative of Tan Tao Bookstore (Nui Thanh Commune) informed that at this time, it welcomed more than 200 visitors per day, an increase of 30% compared to last month, thanks to which it sold more than 60% of the books. The selling price of textbooks was also adjusted down about 10% compared to last year.
The prices of supplementary books remain unchanged. However, this year, due to changes in exams and a reduction in extra classes, more practical, supplementary, and self-study reference books will be released.
The bookstore has promotional programs such as giving away school supplies, gift vouchers, etc. to facilitate shopping for students and parents.
The new school year 2025 - 2026 is approaching, in order to avoid buying pirated textbooks and poor quality learning materials, parents and students should buy books and learning materials at reputable stores and bookstores to ensure quality, reasonable prices, and best serve their learning needs.
