On the evening of June 30, at Nguyen Hue walking street (District 1), the Organizing Committee of major holidays in Ho Chi Minh City held an art program to celebrate the 327th anniversary of the formation of Saigon-Cho Lon-Gia Dinh-Ho Chi Minh City (1698-2025) and the 49th anniversary of the day Saigon-Gia Dinh City was officially honored to be named after President Ho Chi Minh.
With the theme “Ho Chi Minh City - Bright new era,” the program expresses pride in the historical traditions, culture and people of the South through more than three centuries of formation, struggle, construction and development.
In particular, this year's event is held in the context of Ho Chi Minh City entering a new phase after merging with Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, marking a major turning point in the urban development process of the Southeast region.
The art program not only honors traditional values but also conveys the spirit of innovation, integration, and international reach of the city in the new era.
With a duration of 95 minutes, the program includes 15 special performances. In particular, the opening chapter “Ráng sáng phương Nam” recreates the scene of the exploration of the Southern land, where the first generations of residents laid the foundation for a prosperous, peaceful and affectionate land.
With the blend of music , folk dance and visual images, this part vividly depicts the beauty of nature, culture and identity of ancient Vietnamese people.
The second chapter “Heroic Land” is an epic about the resilient and indomitable fighting spirit of the people of Saigon-Gia Dinh throughout the history of the struggle for national liberation.
Heroic images from uprisings, especially the period of resistance against the US to save the country, are vividly recreated, inspiring patriotism and sacrifice for independence and freedom.
“Uncle Ho’s City Enters a New Era” is the content of the final chapter. The songs in this section follow a modern, dynamic, and emotional trend to recreate a large economic and cultural center that is growing strongly in the era of innovation and integration.
Songs bearing historical marks, familiar to the audience, praising the Fatherland and homeland such as " My Fatherland has never been so beautiful", "Love of the Red Land of the East", "Oh Beloved Life", "New Era in Uncle Ho's City", "Between East-West Avenue" ... are all renewed and made more attractive.
The program has the participation of famous artists such as: People's Artist Ta Minh Tam, Trong Phuc, Huu Quoc; artists Khanh Ngoc, Hong Tham; singers Hien Thuc, Uyen Linh, Quoc Dai... and dance groups Mat Troi, Mai Trang, ABC Kids, MTV.SG...
Along with the art program, many activities will be held at the secondary stages on Nguyen Hue walking street such as: circus performances, amateur music, fashion shows; organizing performances, competitions and exchanges of traditional sports, physical games; drum performances, lion and dragon dances, Vovinam, traditional martial arts./.
