The massive construction site of the Co Linh underpass after 7 months of work.

The Co Linh underpass project is entering a crucial structural construction phase after months of implementation in the eastern gateway area of Hanoi . The underpass was built at the Co Linh - Vinh Tuy Bridge intersection, one of the capital's busiest traffic points, connecting Ring Road 2 with many inter-provincial routes and densely populated residential areas. According to the design, the project is approximately 600m long, running in the Vinh Tuy - Long Bien direction and vice versa, including enclosed tunnel sections, open tunnel sections, along with a system of retaining walls and access roads connecting to Dam Quang Trung Street and Vinh Tuy Bridge. Despite construction taking place at a busy intersection, traffic through the area remains uninterrupted. The heavy traffic makes construction work more complex, as it requires balancing progress with traffic safety.
Many areas within the intersection are currently fenced off with corrugated iron sheets for tunnel excavation, installation of technical pipelines, and implementation of underground projects.
Despite construction taking place at a busy intersection, traffic flow through the area remains maintained. The continuous flow of vehicles makes construction management more complex in order to ensure both progress and safety.
According to the design, the underpass will have a cross-section width of 27m with 6 lanes. Many traffic management elements around the area will also be adjusted to increase traffic flow at the eastern gateway of the capital.
The project, with a total investment of approximately 750 billion VND, is managed by the Hanoi City Investment and Construction Project Management Board for Transportation Works. Upon completion, the Co Linh - Vinh Tuy intersection will form a three-tiered transportation system including an overpass, existing roads, and an underpass, contributing to reducing traffic congestion and completing Hanoi's Ring Road 2.
