The distribution of the 2025 Entrance Exam scores is close to the standard distribution, with a wide range of scores that helps to classify candidates' abilities well, facilitating the admission work of schools. The valedictorian of the second round scored 1,122 points.

Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh, Director of the Center for Testing and Assessment of Training Quality of Ho Chi Minh City National University, said that the score distribution of the second round of 2025 is close to the standard distribution, with a wide range of scores, and a slight "rightward" tendency compared to the first round. This may be due to the following reasons: First, of the total number of candidates taking the second round, more than 65,000 candidates have taken the exam in the first round. This is a group of candidates with good or better ability, with test scores in the first round higher than the average; Second, the second round takes place about two months after the first round, giving candidates more time to review and consolidate their knowledge. At the same time, due to the experience in the first round, candidates have more experience in taking the test, have better time management skills, and better exam room psychology, so their test results have improved.
In total, 152,792 candidates took the exam in both rounds of the 2025 National High School Exam, equivalent to 223,179 exam entries. The distribution of the 2025 National High School Exam scores clearly shows the characteristics of a near-normal distribution with a balanced bell shape, indicating that the exam is capable of classifying candidates effectively. The average score (662.78) and median score (653.0) are nearly equivalent, reflecting the symmetry in the score distribution, with no significant deviation towards high or low scores. The standard deviation of 159.70 shows a reasonable level of score dispersion, helping to clearly distinguish between groups of candidates with different abilities. The score range from 120 to 1122 demonstrates the diversity in the qualifications of candidates, while helping universities and colleges easily determine the appropriate admission threshold for each group of candidates.
The 2023 - 2025 period recorded an increase in the scale of the exam. In particular, in 2025, the number of candidates increased by nearly one and a half times compared to previous years. Despite the increase in scale, the exam results remained stable: the average score fluctuated around 640 - 665, the median score fluctuated from 629 to 654. This shows that the test-taking ability of candidates has not fluctuated over the years and the stability of the exam is guaranteed.
The quality of the test was maintained stably, the rate of questions achieving good and very good discrimination reached 94.2% in the first round and 96.7% in the second round, affirming the good classification ability of the test, in line with the goal of assessing capacity for university admission.
The electronic version of the exam result certificate will be issued from June 23, 2025. From 2025, Ho Chi Minh City National University will no longer send paper copies as in previous years. The switch to electronic form is to increase convenience for candidates and admissions institutions, in line with the trend of digital transformation ineducation .
Currently, more than 110 higher education institutions have registered to use the results of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's National High School Graduation Exam for admission in 2025.
