The University of Sydney wishes to promote cooperation with the capital city of Hanoi in scientific research activities through the University of Sydney Vietnam Institute, said Mr. Mark Scott, Principal and President of the University of Sydney.
At a working session with Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha this morning (June 21), Mr. Mark Scott said that the University of Sydney is one of the 20 best universities in the world , and is also the largest and most international university.
According to the principal, the University of Sydney has conducted many in-depth research activities in Vietnam, especially in the fields of economics, agriculture, engineering, and information and communication.
Recently, the University of Sydney has officially established the University of Sydney Vietnam Institute based in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Mark Scott shared. He emphasized that this is also the school's first overseas campus, with the task of cultivating cooperation with the Vietnamese Government and state agencies and businesses, thereby strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thu Anh, Executive Director of the University of Sydney in Vietnam, the Institute has established a representative office in Hanoi and signed research cooperation agreements with businesses, agencies and organizations in the capital.
“As a social enterprise, the University of Sydney Vietnam is committed to putting its research into practice to serve the community in Vietnam,” said Nguyen Thu Anh. “The Institute has established partnerships with many scientific units in Hanoi, including Bach Mai Hospital and Hanoi Lung Hospital.”
For her part, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha congratulated the successes that the University of Sydney has achieved, and welcomed the establishment of the University of Sydney in Vietnam as well as the representative office in Hanoi.
Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha hopes that the presence of the University of Sydney will promote cooperation between Hanoi and the University of Sydney in the coming time, especially in three key areas: health and healthcare, cultural development and cultural industry, and education and training.
According to the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, Hanoi has specific directions in investment and planning for the medical and health care sectors. The city hopes to soon establish specific activities with the University of Sydney.
Regarding culture and cultural industry, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Vu Thu Ha emphasized that this is a potential economic sector, requiring strong actions and efforts to both preserve and exploit, effectively promote core cultural values. Ms. Ha requested the University of Sydney to provide professional and technical support as well as advice to the city in this field.
Considering education and training as Sydney's strength, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Vu Thu Ha hopes that the two sides will soon have effective cooperation models to meet the learning needs of Hanoi students, especially when they are tending to study abroad at an early age.
According to President Mark Scott, the University of Sydney in Vietnam and the University of Sydney expect to have many opportunities to cooperate with Hanoi based on the city's development orientation.
Mr. Mark Scott pledged to continue to learn about the development orientations and policies of Hanoi Capital, thereby building specific cooperation programs and activities suitable for the University of Sydney and the Institute.
Appreciating the sharing of Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Vu Thu Ha, the representative of the University of Sydney emphasized that Hanoi is a city with great potential for development. He said that the city and the University of Sydney have the prospect of building a comprehensive partnership that is beneficial to both sides.
