(NLDO) - For the first time at the Great Mandala Tay Thien Stupa, there is a 3D Mapping light show along with the Great Lamp Transmission Ceremony to pray for national peace and prosperity.
The performance brought a visual feast where light, sound, architecture and nature blended together. The event was a special highlight of the Peace Prayer Festival at the Great Mandala Tay Thien Stupa (in Tam Dao, Vinh Phuc province) this year.
His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa and the Sangha during the Infinite Lamp Transmission Ceremony
The Great Lamp Transmission Ceremony is a ritual of passing on the flame - a symbol of the light of wisdom and compassion of the Buddha, preserved through generations of Masters to the Sangha and Buddhists, to together light up the light of Buddhism, spreading the teachings, wisdom, happiness and peace in the early spring of the new year.
The event was elaborately prepared with hundreds of sacred Buddhist lamps in the setting of the light of the Five Wisdoms of Tathagatas lit from the Great Stupa.
Through the application of 3D mapping technology, shimmering and magical images are projected directly onto the sacred architecture of the Great Stupa, telling the story of enlightenment, compassion and wisdom of the incarnation of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara. As the light changes on every detail of the Stupa, the audience clearly feels the intersection between tradition and modernity, between art and dharma.
All were performed on the background of solemn music with the characteristics of intense and urging Tantric Buddhist art, modern musical arrangements, and occasional touches of leisurely and meditative folk music, bringing to the audience a sublime light and lamp art festival with many emotional levels throughout the program.
Amidst the majestic and poetic space of Tam Dao mountains and forests, during more than 60 minutes, the program was not only a night of spectacular light and music performances; but also a journey of spiritual discovery at the sacred Mandala Stupa - a place where Vietnamese Buddhist culture converges and intersects with the Vajrayana Buddhist tradition of the Himalayas.
