Talking to the press about the Dien Bien Phu Victory, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Hung Ba commented that the Dien Bien Phu Victory was achieved first of all thanks to the talented and strong leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam led by President Ho Chi Minh, the heroic fighting of the entire Vietnamese army and people, and also the strong support of socialist countries, including China.

Ambassador Hung Ba said that during the Dien Bien Phu campaign, China sent a military advisory team and provided Vietnam with many guns, artillery, artillery shells, etc. And finally, in May 1954, the Vietnamese army and people destroyed the main force of the French army in the Dien Bien Phu battle, winning a decisive victory, ending the domination of French colonialism.

Ambassador Hung Ba emphasized: “The Dien Bien Phu victory is a great victory of the Vietnamese people in the struggle against imperialism and colonialism and a great victory in the just struggle of invaded and oppressed peoples in Asia. It is a shining example of the Vietnamese people not being afraid of power and using the weak to defeat the strong.”

According to Ambassador Hung Ba, the Vietnamese and Chinese armies have always been important pillars in developing relations between the two Parties and countries, playing an important role in consolidating and deepening mutual trust in politics, security and strategy between the two sides. The armies of the two countries previously fought against imperialism and colonialism, fought for independence and national liberation; today they build and protect their homelands, maintain political security, seek happiness for the people, and serve the interests of humanity.

Ambassador Hung Ba proposed that in the new situation, the two countries' armies should take the lead in implementing the strategic consensus reached by the two sides' top leaders, focusing on enhancing communication and strategic cooperation, promoting information exchange, joint exercises and training, and extensive cooperation in political education and cadre training.

Ambassador Hung Ba said that this April, the 8th Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange will take place. This exchange and cooperation mechanism over the past 10 years has contributed to building the two countries' border as the most peaceful, stable, economically developed, and busiest in the world.

Ambassador Hung Ba expressed his hope that the two sides would continue to summarize experiences and make border defense friendship exchanges more practical and better as requested by the two countries' senior leaders, contributing to deepening and elevating the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and building a China-Vietnam Community of Shared Future of strategic significance./.
