At the 50th Anniversary Ceremony of the Vietnam National Industry and Energy Group - Petrovietnam (1975 - 2025) held on September 21; General Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Minister of National Defense visited and witnessed the scientific and technological achievements of Dung Quat Oil Refinery at the booth displaying special fuel products for national defense and security.
BSR Chairman of the Board of Directors Bui Ngoc Duong and BSR General Director Nguyen Viet Thang reported to General Phan Van Giang that BSR employees are always proud to contribute their efforts to the cause of protecting the Fatherland through the successful research and production of special fuels for national defense and security. Over the past time, BSR has always maintained safe and stable operation of Dung Quat Oil Refinery, strictly implemented risk management processes, and ensured product output and quality according to the standards and requirements of the Ministry of National Defense. In particular, in recent years, BSR has supplied 100% of the special fuel output to meet the needs of the Ministry of National Defense, affirming its self-sufficiency in production, reducing dependence on imported sources from outside and playing a strategic role in ensuring energy security and national defense security.
For more than 10 years, BSR has been conducting research and testing on special fuel products for national defense and security, and has produced two main products for military equipment: Jet A-1K jet fuel and DO L-62 diesel fuel. Both fuels meet international technical standards, are in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Defense, and are licensed for use on military equipment and weapons. BSR is the second enterprise outside the Russian Federation licensed to produce Jet A-1K and DO L-62 according to Russian Federation standards.
In 2022, in the face of complicated geopolitical fluctuations in the world, the Ministry of National Defense and Petrovietnam directed BSR to expand the production of specialized fuels domestically. At the end of 2022, BSR organized commercial production and handed over the first batch of defense fuels including Jet A-1K, DO L-62 and A80 gasoline (RON83) to the Petroleum Department under the General Department of Logistics and Technology, Ministry of National Defense. This volume of gasoline plays an important role in enhancing the initiative and combat readiness of military forces.
After listening to the report, General Phan Van Giang - Minister of National Defense highly appreciated BSR's proactive spirit, efforts in researching, producing and supplying special defense fuels. This demonstrated the spirit of autonomy, self-reliance and self-strengthening of BSR and of the Vietnamese Industry - Energy sector. General Phan Van Giang said that BSR's mastery of technology, meeting strict standards and timely supplying special fuels to the army has strategic significance in enhancing defense potential, reducing import dependence, and strengthening Vietnam's initiative in the context of unpredictable changes in the regional and world situation. General Phan Van Giang also requested BSR to coordinate more closely with units under the Ministry of National Defense to continue researching and producing new products to serve the training and combat of the Vietnam People's Army in the new situation.
The Science and Technology Exhibition “The New Genergy” organized by Petrovietnam at the National Convention Center (Hanoi). In addition to special fuel products, BSR’s display area at the exhibition introduces a variety of product groups serving both civil and industrial markets: sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), E10 RON95 gasoline, B5/B10 biodiesel, sustainable marine fuel (S-MFO); petrochemical products including commercial PP resins and PP compound under research; chemical - by-product groups such as sulfur granules and White Spirit solvent; along with many models and illustrative equipment such as military aircraft, commercial aircraft, submarines, fishing vessels and OptiDist 2 atmospheric distillation analysis system. In addition to the indoor exhibition area, BSR organized an outdoor exhibition area to introduce the model of the 2nd floor catalyst regeneration tower of the RFCC workshop, the flare and the Plug Valve of the RFCC workshop, to help visitors have a visual view of the operating technology at Dung Quat Refinery. |
