General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, has just sent a letter to officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army participating in the parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War in the Russian Federation.

In the letter, General Phan Van Giang wrote: At the invitation of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation and with the consensus of the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Ministry of National Defense has decided to send 86 soldiers who are officers, students, and professional soldiers who are exemplary in quality, capacity, health, and physique from the Army Officer School 1 and a number of agencies, units, and representatives of officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army to participate in the parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War (May 9, 1945 - May 9, 2025) in the Russian Federation.

This is an opportunity for us to pay tribute to the great contributions and sacrifices of revolutionary soldiers in the great patriotic war of the Soviet people and the anti-fascist allied forces, including Vietnamese revolutionary soldiers; at the same time, affirm the foreign policy of our Party and State and the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

On behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang acknowledged, commended and highly appreciated the will, efforts and determination of the officers and soldiers, despite having to carry out the mission under tight time conditions and incompatible speed and tempo.

The coming days are a decisive time for the results of the mission. The Minister of National Defense hopes that soldiers will further promote the spirit of the April 30, 1975 Victory of the Vietnamese people.

On May 9, Russia will hold a military parade on Red Square to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism. So far, leaders of 19 countries and territories have announced their participation. Many countries have sent military delegations to participate in the parade.

The soldiers sent by the Vietnam People's Army to Russia to participate in the parade are officers and students of Army Officer School 1, aged 19 to 30, 1m80 or taller, with a balanced physique, and the ability to perform command movements quickly, strongly, and accurately.

The delegation has been in Russia for more than a week and is practicing and training with other countries.
