Speaking at the meeting, General Phan Van Giang reviewed the history of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism in general and military journalism in particular. He said that in war, the army is all about guns, bullets, and destroying the enemy. As for journalists, with cameras, video cameras, pens, and brushes, they also volunteer to go to the front...
General Phan Van Giang assessed that the press agencies have published and broadcast many news and articles reflecting the contributions of military officers and soldiers, militia and self-defense forces participating in training and practicing the parade, marching at the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory, 50th anniversary of National Reunification Day... Especially the image of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) participating in the parade for the first time on Red Square in Russia.
This directly contributes to promoting, protecting and enhancing the image, prestige and position of the army, spreading the qualities, values and fine traditions of Uncle Ho's Army.
The Minister of National Defense revealed that in the near future, the country will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2; this occasion also marks the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and Vietnam will invite a number of friendly countries to participate in the parade. Although the number is not large, these are "friends who sacrificed their blood and bones to contribute to the cause of liberation of the Vietnamese people".
"This will be a strong mark affirming that Vietnam is a country respected and admired by friends around the world," the general emphasized.
General Phan Van Giang also revealed that during the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, for the first time, the army paraded and marched at sea. The forces parading at sea included: Navy, Coast Guard, Border Guard, Fisheries Surveillance, Militia and Self-Defense Forces participating in protecting the sea and islands, and Navy Air Force.
The Minister hopes that the press will continue to convey the message that "Vietnam consistently pursues an independent and self-reliant foreign policy and a "four no's" defense policy, building a modern army to protect people's lives and territorial integrity."
