Coffee continues to affirm its position as a key agricultural product in the province's economic structure with an area currently reaching over 212,000 hectares and an output of over 530,000 tons/year. However, the 2025-2026 crop year is forecast to face many dual challenges from the market and climate change.

Faced with the above situation, the Provincial People's Committee requested departments, branches and localities to focus on implementing key tasks to ensure the dual goal of achieving both high economic efficiency and sustainable development.
In the harvesting work, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Chairmen of the People's Committees of communes and wards to direct the strengthening of propaganda and mobilization of people and businesses to absolutely not harvest green coffee. The rate of ripe fruit when picked must be over 85%; in the case of late-season harvesting, the minimum rate of ripe fruit must be 80%.
At the same time, encourage people to replace traditional, polluting drying kilns with modern, environmentally friendly drying technology to maintain the quality of coffee beans.
The Provincial People's Committee requests: The Department of Agriculture and Environment, which is primarily responsible for implementing the directive; coordinates with institutes and schools to introduce new high-yield varieties that adapt to climate change into cultivation. In particular, the Department needs to continue to coordinate the implementation of the European Union Regulation on Deforestation and Forest Degradation (EUDR) for coffee and review the replanting plan for the period 2026 - 2030.
Department of Industry and Trade: Take the lead in monitoring purchasing activities, preventing price gouging, weight gouging, and trade fraud; at the same time, promote trade and support businesses in expanding export markets.
Provincial Police: Strengthen management of residence for seasonal workers; deploy measures to ensure security and order, fight and eradicate gangs of coffee thieves, protection rackets, and price gouging.
State Bank Branch Region 11: Directs credit institutions to prioritize capital sources for lending to purchase, process, export and replant coffee; publicize and make procedures transparent for easy access by people and businesses.
In addition, the Provincial People's Committee requested Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Association to actively promote EUDR regulations and support members in tracing the origin and building specialty coffee brands.
