Currently, Yen Bai Water Supply and Construction Joint Stock Company is supplying clean water to 5 communes and wards with about 24,000 households. Storm No. 10 caused serious flooding in many areas of Yen Bai, Nam Cuong and Au Lau wards. During the rainy and flood days, the Company had to operate the entire pumping system, increasing the capacity by more than 30% compared to the design, from 16,500 m³/day and night to nearly 22,000 m³/day and night. At the same time, the unit also regulated and closed valves in less affected areas to prioritize alternating water supply to key areas with high population density and high demand.

In particular, in the residential area of Phuc Yen, Yen Bai ward, due to the impact of power outage and pressure drop in the pipeline, there has been a water shortage since September 29. The Company has arranged tankers and water trucks to promptly support the people, ensuring essential living needs. In addition, the Company is urgently repairing and overcoming broken pipelines caused by floods on Thanh Nien, Tran Hung Dao streets and some other areas, at the same time checking and reinforcing the pumping system and main pipelines to soon restore stable water supply throughout the area.
Mr. Hoang Dinh Trong in Phuc Yen residential group, Yen Bai ward, shared: Although Yen Bai Water Supply and Construction Joint Stock Company announced a temporary suspension of water supply from September 29, however, only after 2 days of flood water receding, the company used a tanker truck to transport water to support the people for free, so we are very grateful to be able to use clean water for daily use.

As for Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Mai's family in Dong Phu residential group, Nam Cuong ward, right after the flood receded, they had clean water to clean their house, ensuring daily activities.
Ms. Mai shared: During the rainy and flood days, my family had to move to a safe shelter. After the flood receded, we returned home and had clean water to clean the house. Although the water pressure was still low, I did not have to worry about not having clean water to use.
In the early days, the demand for cleaning houses, streets, and residential areas increased, so the Water Supply Company also advised people to use water sparingly, only using water for essential daily needs. Especially during the rainy season, the quality of the input water source decreased due to the presence of many impurities. Therefore, during the treatment process, the unit increased the addition of disinfectant chemicals and tightened the control of the filter cores to ensure the quality of the output water source.
Mr. Le Anh Thuy - Deputy Director of Yen Bai Water Supply and Construction Joint Stock Company said: The company focuses on reviewing and checking the pipeline system in the water supply area and preparing materials and human resources to clean and repair the system at the factory, focusing on ensuring the quality of water sources; strengthening supervision, coagulation treatment, carefully checking the indicators... to maintain water supply to the people.
To maintain a continuous and stable supply of domestic water for people during the rainy and stormy season, water supply units and functional sectors have stepped up propaganda, coordination and support for people, especially households in flooded areas, to clean water tanks and containers; at the same time, inspect and replace pipes and water meters. The health sector has also stepped up recommendations and reminded people not to be subjective, to strictly implement measures to cook food thoroughly and drink boiled water to prevent the risk of infectious disease outbreaks.
