Smart mass mobilization in Tien Phuoc through the model "Friday among the people"

Tien Lap Commune People's Committee launched the clever mass mobilization model "Farmer's vegetable garden"

Through many trips to the grassroots, the officials of the Tien Phuoc District Farmers' Association realized that many mechanisms and policies of the province and district to support agricultural and rural development have been slow to reach the people, so the support sources are available but the people have not benefited. From that reality, the Tien Phuoc District Farmers' Association came up with the initiative "Friday among the people" to support farmers, listen, and get closer to the thoughts and aspirations of farmers.

“On Friday, mid-April 2021, we organized the first day of activities in the village in Cam Tay village (Tien Cam). At that time, the harvest was busy and we were worried about failure, but the results were surprising. In the morning, 30 farmer members gathered at the village cultural house early to clean up and prepare conditions for the "Friday among the people" activity combined with launching the construction of a "Model new rural residential area" - Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tu, Chairman of Tien Ky Town People's Committee, former Chairman of Tien Phuoc District Farmers' Association, recounted.

“Farmers learn from farmers” is one of the criteria of the “Friday among the people” activity.

Since then, every Friday, according to the actual needs of the grassroots, the staff of the Farmers' Association of Tien Phuoc district directly go to each village and residential area to meet with farmers. The content of the meetings is based on the needs of farmers, but mostly focuses on propaganda, consulting, guidance, transferring science and technology, and informing members and farmers about mechanisms and policies to support production development.

Besides, discover the potential of each household to have a form of support to build an economic model right in their home garden.

From the "Fridays in the people", the District Farmers' Association conducts surveys, assesses the current situation and feasibility to build suitable models; meets with members and farmers to grasp the thoughts and aspirations of each household to orient, advise, and guide investment in items and tasks participating in the model; organizes household group activities to create unity and synchronization in implementation; if there is a necessary requirement in transferring science and technology into production, the District Farmers' Association coordinates with related sectors to organize training, vocational training...

From here, many models of clubs, clusters, model new rural residential groups, groups of households linking to improve home gardens, linking to implement projects to develop garden economy, farm economy; eco-tourism with characteristics of the midlands of Quang Nam; building types of collective economy in the agricultural sector (cooperative groups, cooperatives, branches, professional farmer associations; hobby groups...) were established.

Results

Through the activity “Friday in the people”, up to now, the District Farmers’ Association has launched the construction of 73 model new rural residential clusters and groups with the participation of more than 2 thousand farmer households. Among them, there are 5 skillful mass mobilization models on learning from Uncle Ho with 5 model new rural residential clusters at the district level in Tien Lanh, Tien Ngoc, Tien Lap, Tien Canh and Tien Chau communes with a support budget of 1.2 billion VND.

From the activity "Friday in the people" was launched the Breeding Cow Association.

The implementation of forming model new rural residential clusters and groups has been positively responded by farmers, accordingly, 55.21km of concrete roads have been repaired and upgraded; more than 1,200 light bulbs have been installed; 33.68km of flower and tree roads have been planted; 733 households have decorated their home gardens, 846 households have green fences and gates; nearly 2,000 households have family medicine cabinets; 1,923 households have household waste treatment baskets with a total cost of nearly 5.7 billion VND, of which farmer members voluntarily contributed more than 2.5 billion VND.

Along with that, through the "Friday in the people" activities, 328 training sessions were organized for nearly 12 thousand farmer members on measures to identify, prevent and treat diseases on crops and livestock, on contents related to farmers' production needs; 73 environmental protection clubs, 45 security and order clubs, 26 clubs of good farmers in production and business; 14 branches and groups of the Professional Farmers Association.

Mr. Pham Van Nhung - Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Tien Phuoc district said: "Tien Phuoc is a district with advantages in developing garden economy, farm economy, favorable in enjoying the mechanisms and policies of the state, however, for a long time, people have built models in the traditional direction, their hobbies, so when surveying to guide the procedures to enjoy the mechanism, it is not in accordance with the regulations. Therefore, through the activity "Friday among the people", we coordinate with related units to guide people to build models that ensure the regulations to enjoy the mechanisms and policies of the state after investment.

Thanks to that, 1,832 agricultural production development models have enjoyed the state's support mechanism through the association channel of nearly 90 billion VND; in which the project to develop garden economy, farm economy; eco-tourism with the characteristics of the midland of Quang Nam of the district is nearly 60 billion VND, Resolution 35 of the Provincial People's Council is over 30 billion VND".

With the results achieved from the skillful mass mobilization movement through the "Friday among the people" activity, it has created a widespread influence among farmer members, from which the patriotic emulation movements of the Association have been successfully implemented.

“Previously, the gathering of farmer members did not meet the requirements, so many policies, especially those supporting agricultural and rural development and new rural construction, were limited for members and farmers. Now, thanks to good mass mobilization work, farmers see that their rights are protected and cared for by the association in a legal and legitimate manner, so the organization of branch and group activities has up to 80% of members participating, making the work of propagating and mobilizing farmers to participate in the association's activities increasingly easier,” shared Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang, Chairman of the Tien Phuoc District Farmers' Association.

“Another important thing is that through the “Friday in the People” activity, it has helped the association’s staff become more active and flexible in all activities, for example, they must study to understand science and technology, have practical experience, be close, dedicated, responsible, and exemplary to farmer members,” Mr. Thang added.
