81 hectares of land reserved for social housing construction in 18 locations adjacent to urban sub-areas

Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Office said that from 2015 to the end of 2023, Lao Cai province has completed a social housing project with a total of 184 apartments, a floor area of 12,168 m2, and a land area of 0.82 ha.

This is an apartment project for low-income people in the Bac Duyen Hai auxiliary area, Duyen Hai ward, Lao Cai city.

Lao Cai has allocated 81 hectares of land for social housing construction in 18 locations adjacent to urban sub-areas. Figure 1 — Perspective of social housing project on the left bank of the Red River in Son Man village, Van Hoa commune, Lao Cai city.

Currently, Lao Cai province is implementing a social housing project (social housing project for low-income people) in the Northwest reserve area, Sa Pa town with a total land area of 2.53 hectares and 917 apartments.

In addition, Lao Cai province has approved the policy of 2 projects with a total area of 5.90 hectares and about 2,937 apartments.

These are the Social Housing Project on the left bank of the Red River in Van Hoa commune, Lao Cai city with about 745 apartments, a floor area of about 66,560 m2, and a land area of 1.66 hectares, and the Social Housing Project in the residential area adjacent to the extended B6 road in Bac Lenh ward, Lao Cai city with about 2,192 apartments, a floor area of about 198,747 m2, and a land area of 4.23 hectares.

According to the Department of Construction of Lao Cai province, Lao Cai province has currently planned about 81 hectares of land for social housing development, with 18 locations.

The planning location of these social housing areas is near urban sub-area projects and commercial housing to meet practical needs, in line with local socio-economic development conditions, helping low-income people easily access urban services (parks, trees, public transport, healthcare, education, commerce, entertainment, recreation, physical education, sports, etc.) but still ensuring compliance with regulations on land allocation in planning projects for social housing construction.

It is expected that by 2025, Lao Cai province will implement about 6 social housing projects with a total floor area of about 420,000m2/4,600 units, on a land area of about 15 hectares and by 2030 continue to implement social housing areas on the existing land fund.
