On May 31, the SCTV Cup 2025 3-cushion carom billiards tournament held semi-final matches between Vietnamese players.

In the first semi-final, the confrontation between the two most recent Bogota World Cup champions, Tran Quyet Chien and Tran Thanh Luc, was dramatic as fans expected.

After a constant score chase in the first half, Quyet Chien took a 28-24 advantage before the break. In the second half, he took the lead 46-32, but Thanh Luc did not give up. The 1990-born player scored 11 points in two consecutive turns to shorten the gap to 47-49.

However, his courage spoke up at the right time to help Quyet Chien close the match in the 30th turn. He defeated Tran Thanh Luc with a score of 50-47 in the first semi-final.

In the second semi-final, Bao Phuong Vinh continued to show convincing performance when facing Mai Tan Huyen, who won a place in the main round thanks to passing the qualifying round.

Bao Phuong Vinh started impressively, leading 25-6 after only 8 innings, including two series of 9 and 11 points. As soon as the second half started, Mai Tan Huyen rose with a series of 7, then continued to surprise with a series of 11 in the 18th inning, thereby significantly shortening the gap.

However, just as his hope of a comeback was ignited, Bao Phuong Vinh completely extinguished it with a cold finish, scoring 12 points in the 21st turn to close the match with a score of 50-34.

Notably, this is the third time in the official round of the SCTV Cup 2025 that the 2023 world champion has ended the match with a series of 12 points. The previous two times were in the group stage, when facing Tran Thanh Luc and Tayfun Tasdemir.

With these results, the final match of the SCTV Cup 2025 3-cushion carom billiards tournament is a dream match between Tran Quyet Chien and Bao Phuong Vinh.

Quyet Chien started with great enthusiasm when he scored 12 points in just the first two rounds. However, Bao Phuong Vinh quickly responded with two consecutive series of 8 and 5 points to take the lead 16-13, before temporarily leading 25-18 after the first round.

The second half was a great performance from both teams. Quyet Chien rose strongly to re-establish the lead at 35-25. Not willing to be outdone, Bao Phuong Vinh stubbornly chased and leveled the score at 43-43 thanks to impressive shots.

In a tight match, Bao Phuong Vinh was the one who maintained accuracy and stability, thereby winning the final score of 50-44 after 18 turns.

With this victory, Bao Phuong Vinh officially won the SCTV Cup 2025, receiving a prize of 500 million VND, a record amount at a domestic billiards tournament. Tran Quyet Chien, who came in second, also "pocketed" 100 million VND. The two players Mai Tan Huyen and Tran Thanh Luc tied for third place, each receiving 50 million VND.

The SCTV Cup 2025 International 3-Cushion Billiards Tournament has concluded with many high-quality matches and impressive performances from Vietnamese and international players. This success has contributed to bringing 3-Cushion Carom closer to fans nationwide.
