The imprint of veterans on social life.

Veterans from Xuan Thanh village, Nong Cong commune, planted trees along the village's model road.

In mid-April, members of the Veterans Association in Xuan Thanh village, Nong Cong commune, contributed funds and personally planted 130 betel nut trees along the village's model road. This action demonstrates the exemplary spirit and responsibility of the Xuan Thanh village Veterans Association members in building a bright, green, clean, and beautiful environment. The rows of betel nut trees not only create a focal point for the village road but also bear the mark of the Veterans Association in social life.

In many localities throughout the province, rows of shady trees lining the roads are a highlight of the Veterans' Association's activities. Implemented for many years, the "Veterans' Tree Row" model is not only deployed along main roads but also planted in commune offices, village cultural centers, community centers, and school gates. In many places, there are even stone benches donated by veterans, placed under the shady trees for people to rest, play, and socialize. Besides beautifying the rural landscape, these "Veterans' Tree Rows" also contribute to raising individual responsibility in protecting the environment.

Always upholding the unwavering will and steadfast qualities of a soldier of "Uncle Ho's Army," the Thanh Hoa Veterans Association has been exemplary and at the forefront in implementing emulation movements, especially the "Exemplary Veterans" movement. To multiply these beautiful acts for their comrades, the Provincial Veterans Association launched the "Eliminating dilapidated houses for veteran families facing housing difficulties" movement. Accordingly, each veteran cadre and member contributes 24,000 VND/year, with those who can afford it contributing more to build the fund. With over 21,000 cadres and members, during the 2020-2025 period, the entire province contributed and mobilized benefactors to renovate and repair 486 houses, with a total support amount of over 23 billion VND and nearly 30,000 days of labor from members.

Having recently been awarded a "Comradeship House" at the beginning of 2026, veteran Nguyen Tho Thao, from Hamlet 5, Vien Ngoai, Thieu Trung Commune, could not hide his emotion: "From my youth until my hair turned gray, my life revolved around a dilapidated one-story house. This precarious living situation prevented my wife and I from even dreaming of a new home. But with the support of 80 million VND from the Provincial Veterans Association, along with the labor assistance from veteran members in the hamlet, my wife and I have built a new house with immense joy."

Over the years, the "Exemplary Veterans" emulation movement has spread widely, attracting a large number of veteran cadres and members in the province to participate. To help each other develop economically and improve their living standards, the provincial veterans' associations have received entrusted funds of nearly 2,300 billion VND from the Social Policy Bank and other legal sources for members to borrow at low interest rates. Many innovative and appropriate methods and models for building mutual economic development support funds have been implemented and replicated in many localities. To date, Thanh Hoa no longer has any veteran members classified as starving; the number of poor households has decreased by an average of 0.31% each year; and the number of well-off and wealthy households has increased by 1.34% each year, exceeding the set target.

Thanh Hoa province is a land rich in revolutionary traditions. During the wars to defend the Fatherland, Thanh Hoa made very proud contributions. To ensure that the "golden pages of history" of the nation are not forgotten, many veterans in the province have diligently "passed on the revolutionary flame," nurturing faith in the younger generation. From 2022 to 2025, the Veterans' Associations at all levels in the province coordinated with the Youth Union and educational institutions to organize 152 traditional talks; and hundreds of meetings and seminars between veterans, who are historical witnesses, and the younger generation. Through their knowledge, experience, and practical stories, the veterans have instilled revolutionary ideals, helping the younger generation better understand history and strengthen their faith in the nation's revolutionary cause.

With the motto "Where there are movements, there are Veterans' Associations; where there are Veterans' Associations, there are movement activities," Veterans' Associations at all levels in the province have taken the lead in implementing movements and campaigns launched by the Central and local authorities. Notable examples include the "Veterans' Association joins forces to build new rural areas and civilized cities" movement, where cadres and members of the Veterans' Association in the province voluntarily donated 53,512 square meters of land, contributed nearly 4.5 billion VND and tens of thousands of man-days to expand and upgrade roads, pave sidewalks, and build cultural centers. The "All people protect national security" movement has been widely implemented with many specific models. The movement of Veterans' Associations participating in ensuring security, order, and traffic safety has also received many thank-you letters from citizens and victims, and has been recognized and emulated in many places across the country.

Throughout history, whether in times of war or peace, the soldiers of "Uncle Ho's Army" have always upheld the spirit of solidarity and a will to excel, contributing many positive values to society.
