According to a medical report from Real Madrid, Camavinga has suffered a complete tear of the adductor muscle tendon in his left leg. This is a serious injury requiring a long treatment and recovery process.
This injury will prevent Camavinga from participating in the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona on April 27th. The French international will also be sidelined for the remainder of the season. This is bad news for both the player and the coaching staff, as Camavinga is one of the key players in coach Carlo Ancelotti's squad.
Camavinga still hopes to be fit in time for the FIFA Club World Cup in mid-June. However, AS assesses his chances of participating in the tournament as very slim.
In the early hours of April 24th, Camavinga and David Alaba both suffered injuries during Real Madrid's 1-0 victory over Getafe in La Liga. While Camavinga is out for the rest of the season, Alaba is still undergoing tests to determine the severity of his injury.
Coach Ancelotti had hoped to field Camavinga at left-back in the match against Barcelona, in order to neutralize Lamine Yamal. However, this plan fell through.
Since the start of this season, Camavinga has made 19 appearances in La Liga and 9 in the Champions League. He has scored 1 goal and provided 2 assists.
The Copa del Rey final could decide the fate of coach Ancelotti. If Real loses, "Don Carlo" faces the risk of being sacked.
