Recently, in Can Tho City, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City in coordination with the People's Committees of 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta (MD) organized a conference to review the socio -economic development cooperation agreement between Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities in the MD for the period 2023 - 2024 and deploy the plan for the period 2024 - 2025.
Attending the conference were comrades: Phan Van Mai, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; Nguyen Van Hieu, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee; leaders of the People's Committees of 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region. On the side of Tien Giang province, attending the conference was comrade Nguyen Van Vinh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
The agreement on socio-economic development cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region has 8 cooperation contents including: Connecting supply and demand, promoting investment and trade; developing transport infrastructure; developing tourism; cooperating in adapting to climate change; developing science and technology, digital transformation; developing the health sector, training human resources; the field of labor and employment; the situation of bilateral cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and each province and city in the Mekong Delta region.

In the period of 2023 - 2024, the conference connecting supply and demand focused on Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities in 2023 attracted 322 participating units with 657 booths, including 13/13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region participating with 184 registered enterprises and 328 booths with local specialty products.
The "On the wharf, under the boat" spring flower market is one of 19 typical annual cultural, artistic and festival events in Ho Chi Minh City. To prepare for the organization of the above activities, District 8 (Ho Chi Minh City) has organized promotion and connection of supply and demand in many provinces and cities, creating places for traders and gardeners to display and trade ornamental flowers and fruits to serve tourists. In 2023, there will be 788 booths, consuming 138 tons of goods, fruits and 120,000 flower pots; in 2024, there will be 745 booths, consuming 95 tons of goods, fruits and 90,000 flower pots of all kinds.

Comrade Phan Van Mai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, said that in the period of 2023 - 2024, Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces and cities of the Mekong Delta have implemented many regional cooperation programs, helping to develop businesses, improve people's lives, and contribute to promoting socio-economic development of localities. However, the effectiveness of the cooperation agreements is not high; some contents and fields are only at the initiation, research or proposal stage.
Through this conference, comrade Phan Van Mai hopes to listen to the opinions of local leaders, business representatives, and delegates, and to point out the key points and effective ways for cooperation to truly bring practical results, contributing to the socio-economic development of the Mekong Delta and Ho Chi Minh City.

At the conference, representatives of provincial and municipal leaders summarized the results achieved in the past time, and focused on discussing the contents of cooperation implementation for the 2024 - 2025 period.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh, Chairman of Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee, said that in 2023 and 2024, the cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Tien Giang Province has achieved many positive results. In particular, Ho Chi Minh City and Tien Giang Province have cooperated to implement 3 contents: Can Gio Ferry (Ho Chi Minh City) - Go Cong Dong (Tien Giang Province); cooperation in investment and tourism development of Thoi Son (My Tho City); cooperation in supporting the transfer of technology and science - technology to Tien Giang Provincial General Hospital.

Comrade Nguyen Van Vinh suggested that in the coming time, continue to coordinate to implement the Ho Chi Minh City - Long An - Tien Giang Urban Traffic Axis Project synchronously and effectively; cooperate and link human resource training between universities in Ho Chi Minh City and Tien Giang University; in the field of health, the province continues to request that hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City support Tien Giang Provincial General Hospital to continue opening new specialties; at the same time, hope that the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City continue to research and introduce and consume advantageous products of the Mekong Delta region.
In the coming time, in order for the cooperation agreement between Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta to become more practical and effective, Mr. Phan Van Mai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, suggested continuing to strengthen the exchange of experiences and technology transfer. In particular, focusing on Ho Chi Minh City's strengths such as: Information technology, digital economy, services, building logistics systems for localities, etc.
