Promote the development of products with Vietnamese brand, VinUni brand

(CPV) - Speaking at the visit to VinUni University, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia requested VinUni to focus strongly on research, training highly qualified human resources, scientific research and technology development, and developing products with Vietnamese brands, VinUni brands.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, spoke at the visit and congratulations to VinUni University.

On the afternoon of November 19, in Hanoi , Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, visited and congratulated teachers, lecturers and students of VinUni University on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20).

The delegation included comrades: Lai Xuan Mon, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Vu Thanh Mai, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department; and representatives of leaders of departments and units under the Central Propaganda Department.

Giving an overview of VinUni University, Dr. Le Mai Lan, Vice President of Vingroup, Chairwoman of VinUni University Council, said: VinUni was established in 2019 with the aspiration to build an excellent, world-class university in Vietnam. From the initial difficult steps, today, VinUni has grown steadily and achieved many outstanding achievements. Right from the early days of its establishment, VinUni was honored to have strategic collaborations with Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania - two of the most prestigious universities in the United States. With this foundation, VinUni has continuously expanded its international cooperation, to date establishing professional cooperation relationships with more than 50 leading universities from countries with developed education systems such as the US, UK, Australia, Singapore, Japan and Korea. This is a clear demonstration of VinUni's commitment to providing rich academic and research experiences and broadening international perspectives for students.

Overcoming the challenges of a startup university, in September 2024, VinUni became the youngest and fastest university in the world to achieve a comprehensive 5-star certification from the prestigious QS accreditation organization. With this certification, VinUni is proud to achieve 5 stars in 9 areas including: Global integration, transparent governance, strong training programs, academic development, teaching quality, employment opportunities, facilities, culture - arts and social impact. This is the result of the tireless efforts of the school's leadership team, lecturers and staff, and is also a source of motivation for VinUni to continue its mission of leading in innovation and creativity.

Not only stopping at educational achievements, VinUni is also honored to be the first university in Vietnam to be appointed by UNESCO as a UNESCO Chair under the model of a Center for Research and Training, sponsoring environmental leadership, cultural heritage and biodiversity. Regarding training quality, VinUni has demonstrated not only through international certifications but also through the actual success of its students. The first batch of students who graduated in June 2024 affirmed the reputation of the school's training, with 75% of the first batch of students receiving job offers from prestigious companies before graduation, and 25% being accepted into graduate programs at the world's leading universities such as: Harvard University, Cornell University, and the University of Pennsylvania.

Recognizing and praising the achievements of VinUni University, on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20), comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia wished the professors, scientists, staff and employees of the University much creativity and enthusiasm to continue contributing to the noble cause of educating people.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that in the coming time, the School should pay attention to implementing well the Party and State's guidelines and policies on education and training development, especially university education, focusing on the new viewpoints, tasks and solutions mentioned in Conclusion No. 91-KL/TW of the Politburo (on continuing to implement Resolution No. 29-NQ-TW on fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training, meeting the requirements of industrialization and modernization in the conditions of a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration); pay attention to building a team of intellectuals, experts and scientists, in the spirit of Resolution No. 45-NQ/TW of the 8th Central Conference, 13th tenure on continuing to build and promote the role of the intellectual team to meet the requirements of rapid and sustainable national development in the new period.

Besides the orientation of international integration, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia noted that VinUni University needs to be a place to preserve, promote and spread advanced Vietnamese culture with strong national identity.

VinUni needs to focus strongly on research and training of highly qualified and high-quality human resources in the fields of engineering and technology. The school needs to research and open more training majors in engineering and technology, especially emerging fields associated with the Fourth Industrial Revolution such as big data, cloud computing, internet of things, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, etc. Strongly promote scientific research and technology development, focusing on research and development of products with Vietnamese brands, VinUni brands.

On the journey to becoming an excellent university, VinUni needs to cooperate, share values, resources, and social responsibilities in promoting the development of Vietnam's higher education system; focus on scholarship policies and tuition exemptions for talented students but in difficult circumstances, with few opportunities to access university education.

In particular, the Head of the Central Propaganda Department requested that the University continue to focus on building a team of lecturers, experts, and scientists at international standards. Forming a team of prestigious lecturers, scientists, and leading experts in key areas of the University, considering this the most important factor to achieve the goal of VinUni becoming an excellent university in the region and the world. Each lecturer and scientist of VinUni must truly be a shining example of love for the profession, the spirit of innovation and creativity, and the desire to contribute.
